Women’s Hockey falls to Williams 2-6 Posted on February 3rd, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team lost to tenth-ranked Williams College 2-6 Tuesday afternoon in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Williams improves to 11-6 overall and Gustavus falls to 12-5 overall.

The Gusties trip to the East Coast ended on a sour note Tuesday afternoon losing their second game in less than 24 hours. Williams outshot Gustavus 36-29 and capatilized on three of its six power plays for the non-conference win.

Tori Scott had the first goal of the game on the power-play for Williams at 10:38 in the first period. Gustavus answered back with a short-handed goal by Katie Deschneau three minutes later (13:37). Anna Condino added another power-play goal for Williams at 14:05 in the first period to take the lead 2-1. Laura Stypulkowski tied the game up at two goals each finding the net at 15:35 of the first period.

Ashely Wood scored at 6:12 in the second period and Wendy Stone added another at 7:48 to make the score 4-2 in Williams favor. Wood added her second goal of the contest at 14:37 in the third period. Molley Wasserman added the third power-play goal of the game for Williams at 18:05 in the third period.

The Gusties will be back in action Friday night in Winona, Minn. against St. Mary’s College. The Gusties are in second place of the MIAC with a record of 8-2 in the conference.
