The Gustavus men’s swimming team lost a very competitive dual meet to St. Olaf 134-109 at the Lund Center Natatorium in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties did manage to win five events and set two pool records. It was the first dual meet of the year for both teams.

The Gusties started off the meet with a bang as the 400 yard medley relay team of Jeff Pearson, Marc Maynard, Will Sutor and Seth Weidmann finished first and set a new pool record with a time of 3:36.82. The old record was 3:37.04 set by UW-Stevens Point on November 16, 2002.

Gustavus picked up four other first place finishes in the meet including Scott Hagemeyer in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, Will Sutor in the 200 yard individual medley and the 400 yard free relay team of Kent Kramer, Mike Maynard, Seth Weidmann and Scott Hagemeyer. Will Sutor’s time of 1:58.95 in the 200 individual medley was also a new pool record. The old record was 1:59.94 set by Luke Vestrum of Saint John’s in January of 2000.
