Men’s Golf Team Set to Defend MIAC Title This Weekend

The Gustavus men’s golf team will attempt to defend its MIAC title this Friday and Saturday at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

The Gustavus men’s golf team will look to defend its MIAC title this weekend at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids. Coach Scott Moe’s squad is currently ranked fifth in Division III and has finished first or second in all three tournaments it has played this fall.

The Gusties are led by senior All-Americans Neil Johnson and Luke Benoit. Johnson, a three-time all-conference performer, finished fourth at last year’s NCAA Championships while Benoit, a two-time all-conference performer, finished 12th at the NCAA Championships. Senior Brent Borgstahl, who earned all-conference honors with a fifth place finish at last year’s MIAC tournament, will also be a key player for the Gusties. The squad will be rounded out by junior Brady Hoffman, who has two top 15 finishes in three tournaments this fall and freshman Chase Thonvold,who placed fifth at the Twin Cities Classic last weekend. The Gusties have averaged a team score of 300.42 for 18 holes in three tournaments this fall.
