Men’s Nordic Skiing Program Announces 2004 Schedule Posted on October 3rd, 2003 by

The Gustavus men’s nordic skiing team has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2004 season. Highlights of the season include opening the year at the CCSA US National on January 3rd and competing at the MIAC Championships the third weekend in February.
Last season Gustavus finished third at the conference championships, the highest showing the Gusties have had in the four-year history of the sport as a conference championship. The Gusties hope to continue their improvement as Head Coach Scott Jerome returns every athlete from last year’s roster.

Gustavus opens the season January 3 at the CCSA US Nationals in Rumford, Maine. The Gusties then return to the Midwest to take part in the St. John’s Invitational January 10-11. The team’s next three competitions are CCSA events. On February 21 and 22 the squad will compete at the MIAC Championships. This is the last season that nordic skiing will be considered a conference sport and an MIAC champion will be crowned.

This season Christer Stefanson joins the coaching staff as Jerome’s assistant. Stefansson, a native of Sweden, brings with him a strong skiing background and a wealth of skiing experience to the program.
