Lisa Brown Finishes 12th In Javelin Throw At Mt. Sac Relays

Gustavus Adolphus women's field athlete Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) finished 12th in the javelin throw at the Mt. SAC Relays with a NCAA automatic qualifying throw of 147 feet, 9 inches in Walnut, Calif. on Friday. Her mark ranks second in Division III this season. Brown was the only Division III athlete to compete in a field that included 22 of the top collegiate and Olympic javelin athletes in the country.

Women’s Track and Field Has Strong Showing At Lee Krough Invitational

The Gustavus women's track and field team had a strong team showing at the Lee Krough Invitational on Friday in St. Peter. No team scores were kept during the meet in which over 20 teams participated. Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) and Kaelene Lundstrum (Jr., Bird Island, Minn.) won events with NCAA provisional qualifying standards, as Brown took first in the javelin throw with a distance of 138 feet, 1 inch and Lundstrum cleared a height of 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump.

Lisa Brown Named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./LCWM) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6, 2009. Brown provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put and the javelin throw at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa on Saturday.

Women’s Track and Field Starts Outdoor Season With Fifth Place Finish At Central Invitational

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a fifth-place finish at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa. Division II institution UM-Duluth scored 166.5 points to claim the team title, followed by Northern Iowa (149), Drake University (94), Augustana (IL) (84.5), and Gustavus (83.25).

Kaelene Lundstrum Named Outstanding Women’s Field Athlete At MIAC Championships

Gustavus Adolphus junior Kaelene Lundstrum (Bird Island, Minn.) has been named the Outstanding Women's Field Athlete at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships after winning titles in the pentathlon and the high jump. Lundstrum also as earned the Women's Outstanding Performance of the Meet for her performance in the pentathlon.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field Ready For MIAC Championships This Weekend

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team looks to finish near the top of the team standings at the 2009 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships after earning second place at the 2008 Championships. The meet begins with the heptathlon competition on Thursday and runs through Saturday afternoon. Concordia will serve as the hosts with the event taking place at the Olson Forum on the Concordia campus.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field Dominates Field Events At Pre-MIAC Meet

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team won each of the six field events at the Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Macalester College on Friday in St. Paul. Janey Helland highlighted the day for the Gusties as she broke her own school record in the long jump with a NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 18' 1.5". No team scores were kept at the six-team meet, which included Bethel, Carleton, Concordia, Hamline, Gustavus, and host Macalester.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field Takes Second Place At Saint Benedict Quad

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team recorded 144 points to finish second behind the University of Minnesota-Duluth, which had 172 points, at the Saint Benedict Quad on Saturday in Collegeville. The Gusties won two individual events, but used their depth to pick up valuable points. Megan Lundgren (So., Mankato, Minn.) and Janey Helland (So., Mapleton, Minn.) took first place in their respective events as Lundgren won the 600 and Helland won the long jump.

Lisa Brown Competing In Javelin Throw at U.S. Olympic Trials

Gustavus Adolphus College student athlete Lisa Brown, the Division III National Champion in the javelin, is taking part in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, June 28. Brown, a native of Lake Crystal, Minn., heads into the trials ranked 12th nationally with a qualifying mark of 52.17 meters.

Drew Hood, Chris deLaubenfels, Laura Edlund Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Track/Cross Country Team

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its men's and women's Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country Teams sponsored by ESPN The Magazine and three Gustavus student athletes were honored including Drew Hood, Chris deLaubenfels, and Laura Edlund.
