Gustavus Women’s Tennis Wins Twice, Advances To Semifinals Of Midwest Invitational

The Gustavus women's tennis team posted a first round win over Carthage (7-2) and then surprised Washington University (5-4) in the quarterfinals of the Midwest Invitational, which is being played in Madison, Wisc. The Gusties will now face Denison University in the semifinals on Saturday morning at 7:15 am. Gustavus, which is ranked #17 in the latest ITA Div. III poll, improves to 12-7 overall.

Women’s Tennis Team Falls To Pomona-Pitzer 7-2 In Spring Break Finale

The Gustavus women's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Southern California with a 7-2 loss to Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, California. The eighth ranked Sagehens won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to defeat the 18th ranked Gusties.

Women’s Tennis Claims Convincing 8-1 Win Over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

The Gustavus women's tennis team evened its Spring Break trip record to 1-1 by defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 8-1 in Claremont on Wednesday evening. The Gusties jumped out to a 3-0 lead by winning all of the doubles matches and never looked back on its way to a convincing victory. Marianne Barau played very well for the Gusties as she posted a win at #6 singles in straight sets and then teamed with Megan Gaard to win at #2 doubles.

Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Break Trip With 5-4 Loss To Redlands

The Gustavus women's tennis team dropped the first match of its Spring Break trip to Southern California losing a heartbreaker to the University of Redlands by the score of 5-4. The Gusties led 2-1 after doubles, but lost four of six singles matches to allow the Bulldogs to escape with the 5-4 victory. The Gusties will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 7 pm (CDT).

Women’s Tennis Defeats St. Scholastica 7-2, Falls To Drake 7-0

The Gustavus women's tennis team split two matches in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday. The Gusties started with a 0-7 loss to Division I Drake and then finished with a 7-2 win over St. Scholastica. Gustavus is now 9-5 on the season. The team will now head to Southern California for Spring Break where they will face University of Redlands on Tuesday.

Women’s Tennis Falls To Division II Montana State-Billings 5-4

The Gustavus women's tennis team held a 2-1 lead after doubles, but then dropped four of the six singles matches and lost to Montana State-Billings 5-4 at the Swanson Tennis Center on Friday night. First year Mary Roop sparked the Gusties as she won her #6 singles match in straight sets and then teamed with Sierra Krebsbach to post an 8-5 win at #2 doubles. Gustavus is now 4-3 overall on the season.

Women’s Tennis Falls To Mary Washington 8-1 In ITA Indoor Quarterfinal Match

The Gustavus women's tennis team put up a good fight, but could not overcome #3 seed Mary Washington losing 8-1 in a quarterfinal match at the ITA Division III Women's Indoor Championship. The Gusties, who are hosting the eight-team tournament at the Swanson Tennis Center, will now face DePauw University in a consolation match at 8:30 am on Saturday morning.

Women’s Tennis Set To Host ITA Indoor Tennis Championships This Weekend

Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host the inaugural Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Division III Women's Indoor Championship at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Eight of the top teams in Division III tennis will compete to determine the 2009 ITA Division III National Indoor Champion.

Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season With Wins Over Augustana, Nebraska-Omaha, and University of North Dakota

The Gustavus women's tennis team opened its spring season with three wins at the Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday. The Gusties opened the day with a 6-3 win over Augustana (SD), followed by a 7-2 win over the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and finished with a 5-4 win over the University of North Dakota. Erica Dobson led Gustavus with three singles wins at the #3 and #4 positions.

Samantha Frank and Megan Gaard Finish Second in Doubles at ITA Midwest Regional

The Gustavus women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season with a solid performance at the ITA Midwest Regional and the Fall Invitational, both of which were hosted at Gustavus this past weekend. Sophomore Sam Frank and first year Megan Gaard turned in the top performance with a second place finish in the ITA Doubles Tournament. Frank and Gaard lost to Molly Fiala and Andrea Schupach of Coe 8-4 in the championship match.
