Volleyball Falls To St. Thomas 3-1 In MIAC Playoff Championship Match

The 18th-ranked Gustavus volleyball team saw its 11-match winning streak come to an end as No. 6 St. Thomas defeated the Gusties 3-1 (20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-25) in the MIAC Playoff Championship on Saturday night in St. Paul. Olivia Warren (Fy., Goodhue, Minn.), Meghan Gehring (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.), and Angela Ahrendt (Fy., Shoreview, Minn.) tallied 12 kills each during the match, but it would not be enough as the Tommies' Katie McCaffrey posted a double-double with 20 kills and 11 blocks.

Men’s Soccer Secures #2 Seed In MIAC Playoffs With 2-1 Win Over St. Thomas

The Gustavus men's soccer team closed out regular season play with a hard fought 2-1 win over St. Thomas in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Mark Adams and Ben Eriksson and then hold off a late Tommie rally to claim the important conference win. Gustavus finished conference play in second place with an 8-2 record and will now host #3 seed Augsburg in St. Peter in the first round of the MIAC Playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Women’s Soccer Ends Season With 3-1 Loss At St. Thomas

The Gustavus women's soccer team ended its 2008 season with a 3-1 loss to the Tommies from the University of St. Thomas on Saturday. Senior Callie Christensen put the Gusties up 1-0 in the 5th minute, but the Tommies came back with three unanswered goals. Gustavus ends the season with a record of 7-8-2 and 4-5-2 in the MIAC, while St. Thomas ends its season as undefeated MIAC champions with a 14-0-4 record (9-0-2 in the MIAC).

Football Loses Homecoming Game 30-22 To St. Thomas

The Gustavus football team scored 22 second half points after facing a 16-0 halftime deficit, but it would not be enough as St. Thomas held on for a 30-22 victory to spoil Homecoming for the Gusties on Saturday in St. Peter. St. Thomas running back Ben Wartman ran for 196 yards and two touchdowns as the Tommies held the ball for 39:28 during the game compared to 20:32 for Gustavus. The Gusties dropped to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC.

Gustavus Volleyball Falls To No. 6-St. Thomas 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team was unable to match the offense of the University of St. Thomas in a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-11, 29-27) on Friday night in St. Paul. The Tommies hit 51 kills compared to just 31 for the Gusties en route to the victory. Kyley Crotty led St. Thomas with 15 kills, while no Gustavus player reached double-digit kills. Gustavus fell to 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while St. Thomas improved its overall record to 16-1 and its MIAC record to 4-0.

Gustavus Football Set to Face St. Thomas for Homecoming

The Gustavus football team will host the University of St. Thomas in a MIAC matchup on Saturday at 1:30 pm at Hollingsworth Field on the Gustavus campus. It is Homecoming Day for the Gusties. Gustavus and St. Thomas enter with identical records of 2-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MIAC. Women’s Tennis Defeats Saint Mary’s and St. Thomas, Claims Share Of 17th Straight MIAC Title

The Gustavus women's tennis team posted a convincing 9-0 win over Saint Mary's and an 8-1 win over previously MIAC unbeaten St. Thomas on Sunday afternoon on the Brown Outdoor Courts at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter. With the wins, the Gusties claimed a share of their 17th consecutive MIAC title and clinched the top seed in the MIAC Tournament to be held on April 25-26 in St. Peter.

Softball Swept By St. Thomas 10-2, 11-1

The Gustavus softball team allowed six home runs on a cold day in St. Paul as the Gusties were swept by fifth-ranked St. Thomas 10-2 in six innings and 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday. The Gustie offense was held to three runs on nine hits, as the Tommie pitchers combined to strikeout ten Gustavus batters during the doubleheader. Gustavus fell to 11-5 overall and 1-3 in league play, while St. Thomas improved to 21-3 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC.

Women’s Hockey To Take On St. Thomas In MIAC Championship, Game To Be Broadcast Over Internet

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team will meet the University of St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Championship game Wednesday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter at 7 p.m. This will be the sixth consecutive meeting in the championship between the squads with the Gusties winning the last four title games. Wednesday's game can be watched through the Gustavus website beginning at 6:50 p.m.

Women’s Hockey Team Slips Past St. Thomas 1-0 To Win MIAC Playoff Championship

Gustavus senior forward Molly Doyle deflected a hard shot by teammate Kelsey Johnson past St. Thomas goaltender Lauren Bradel with 2:46 remaining in the third period to give the Gusties a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Tommies in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Wednesday night at Gustavus. The Gusties, who improve to 25-2-0 on the season, receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as a result of claiming the playoff championship.
