The Gustavus softball team struggled a bit in Northfield on Wednesday afternoon rallying from an 8-3 loss in game one to claim a convincing 12-3 win in game two. Kirsten Prunty led the Gusties offensively as she was 5-for-6 in the two games with two home runs and four RBI.

Softball Claims Impressive Sweep Over #20 UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus softball team increased its win streak to four games by sweeping #20 UW-La Crosse by the scores of 2-0 and 5-2 in La Crosse, Wis. on Thursday afternoon. Callie Nelsen tossed a complete game shutout in game one, while Betsie Collins scattered three hits and allowed two runs in picking up the win on the mound in game two.

The St. Olaf-Gustavus Adolphus College softball doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday at 4 pm in Northfield has been postponed by rain and will be played on Wednesday at 4 pm in Northfield.

Softball Posts 2-4 Record Against Tough Competition at NFCA Leadoff Classic

The Gustavus softball team posted a 2-4 record at the prestigious National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) Leadoff Classic this past weekend in Panama City, Florida. The Gusties posted a record of 2-1 in pool play on Friday and Saturday morning and qualified for the Gold Division bracket where they struggled with an 0-3 mark on Saturday evening and Sunday.

Softball Team To Play In NFCA Leadoff Classic In Florida This Weekend

The Gustavus softball team, which opened its season with a 3-1 record in the Finlandia Dome Tournament in late February, will head to Panama City Beach, Florida this weekend to take part in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic. The Leadoff Classic is an invitation only tournament featuring 24 of the top Division III programs in the country including 11 that have been ranked in the Top 25 nationally this season.

Softball Posts 3-1 Mark At Finlandia Dome Tournament

The Gustavus softball team opened its 2010 season with a strong showing at the Finlandia Dome Tournament in Marquette, Michigan. Coach Jeff Annis' squad posted a record of 3-1 with wins over UW-Stevens Point (7-0), Simpson (9-2), and Concordia University (Wis.) (4-0) and a loss to UW-Oshkosh (12-7). Betsie Collins picked up two wins on the mound including a two-hit shutout against UW-Stevens Point.

Softball Opens Season At Finlandia Dome Tournament

The Gustavus softball team will open its 2010 season with four games at the Finlandia Dome Tournament in Marquette, Michigan this Saturday and Sunday. The Gusties will play UW-Stevens Point (noon), UW-Oshkosh (2 pm), and Simpson (6 pm) on Saturday and then wrap up the tournament against Concordia University of Mequon, Wisconsin on Sunday at 8 am. The Gusties enter the 2010 season with high expectations as Head Coach Jeff Annis returns six starters in the field and all three starting pitchers from a squad that won the MIAC Championship with a 21-1 record and then went on to finish third at the NCAA Championship.

Gustavus Softball Team To Be Featured on NCAA Spring Championship Show On CBS This Saturday

The Gustavus softball team will be featured on the NCAA Spring Championship Show, which will air this Saturday, July 4 at 1 pm (Central Time) on CBS Television (which is WCCO or KEYC in southern Minnesota). The Gusties made an impressive run in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament finishing third, which is the best finish in the program's history. Coach Jeff Annis and his squad, the MIAC regular season champions at 21-1, finished with an overall mark of 42-9.

Rachael Click, Kimbra Kosak Selected To Receive NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced on Monday that Gustavus Adolphus senior softball player Rachael Click and senior golfer Kimbra Kosak have been named two of 29 women's spring sport recipients of a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Click, a NFCA All-American and MIAC Player of the Year, helped the softball team to a third place finish at the NCAA Championships, while Kosak, the MIAC Senior Player of the Year, helped the golf team to a third place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Rachael Click Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America Softball Team

Gustavus senior shortstop Rachael Click has been selected to the First Team of the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America softball squad. This is the third consecutive year that Click has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America and second consecutive year she has been a first team selection. Click, the MIAC Player of the Year and a NFCA Second Team All-America honoree, maintains a 3.91 gpa with a major in elementary education.
