Men’s Basketball Erases 20-Point Deficit, Defeats Hamline 101-91 In Overtime
Saturday afternoon’s MIAC men’s basketball game against Hamline University didn’t start well for Gustavus as the visiting Pipers raced to a double-digit advantage, leading by as much as 19 points in the first half. Hamline took a 20-point lead in the second, it’s largest of the game, but the Gusties showed pride and determination to erase that deficit and tie the game 74-74 with 3:19 left in regulation. Trailing 83-80 after a timeout and eight seconds on the game clock, Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) played the role of the hero as he sunk an off-balance fade-away three to tie the game with just five seconds on the clock, sending it to overtime. Having lost their previous two overtime contests this season, the Gusties flipped the script and went on to claim a 101-91 victory to improve to 10-13 overall and 7-11 in the MIAC.
Men’s Basketball Drops Another Heartbreaker 82-80 At St. Olaf
Trailing St. Olaf by two points with six seconds remaining in the game, the Gustavus men’s basketball team had possession of the ball as Gary Cooper (Sr., Detroit, Mich.) advanced it up to Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.). Narum pump-faked and dribbled over for an open look at a three-pointer, but his shot at the last second was blocked in a controversial finish, as some argue a foul was committed on the shot. Nonetheless, the Gusties lost 82-80 in another heartbreaking defeat, dropping to 9-13 overall and 6-11 in the MIAC, and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Men’s Basketball Can’t Dig Out Of First Half Hole, Falls 87-72 At No. 5 St. Thomas
The Gustavus men’s basketball team suffered an 87-72 loss to No. 5 St. Thomas on Wednesday night, snapping a four-game win streak. The Gusties fall to 9-11 overall and 6-9 in the MIAC, while the Tommies extend their win streak to 14 with an overall record of 18-1 and a 13-1 mark in the league.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team continued its winning ways Saturday afternoon at Gus Young Court, cruising to a 92-67 victory over Macalester College. The Gusties claim their fourth straight and improve to 9-10 overall and 6-8 in the MIAC, while the Scots fall to 3-16 overall and 1-13 in the league.
Men’s Basketball Suffers Hard Fought 65-60 Defeat To St. Olaf Despite Second Half Comeback
Despite a second half comeback, the Gustavus men’s basketball team suffered a hard fought 65-60 loss to St. Olaf on Monday night at Gus Young Court. The defeat drops the Gusties to 5-8 overall and 2-6 in the MIAC, while the Oles improve to 8-5 overall, and 6-2 in the league.
Men’s Basketball Falls To Augsburg 79-70
The Gustavus men’s basketball team got off to a quick start Saturday at Augsburg College with a 9-2 lead after the first three minutes of play, but the Auggies responded with a 14-2 run to take a lead they would not let go of the rest of the way resulting in a 79-70 final score. The loss is the first in MIAC play by the Gusties as they fall to 1-1 in the league and 3-2 overall.
Men’s Basketball Starts MIAC Play With 69-57 Victory Over Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus men’s basketball team scored the first basket of Wednesday night’s game against Saint Mary’s University and never relinquished the lead, resulting in a 69-57 victory to begin MIAC play. With the win, the Gusties improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Men’s Basketball Wins Shootout 97-90 Over Buena Vista
The Gustavus men’s basketball team used another strong second half to come away with a 97-90 victory over Buena Vista University on Sunday evening to improve to 2-1 overall. Much like the strong start to the second half in their last outing against Simpson, the Gusties started today’s second frame with a 17-2 run to take a 62-55 lead and never looked back.
Men’s Basketball Loses Lead Late, Falls 75-73 At Northwestern In Season Opener
The Gustavus men’s basketball team opened the season with a tightly contested 75-73 loss at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday. The Gusties held a six-point lead with 2:26 remaining in the game, but the Eagles went on a 9-2 run to take a 74-73 lead with 37 seconds left in the game. Gustavus had an opportunity to tie the game with the last shot as time expired, but it bounced off the rim and UNW escaped with the victory.
