Alhouni Advances To NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Quarterfinals, Falls In Doubles With Whaling

Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) and Patrick Whaling (Jr., Manakin Sabot, Va.) competed in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Individual Championships on Thursday and came out with mixed results. Alhouni won his first two singles matches to advance to the national quarterfinals, while he and Whaling lost in the first round of the doubles tournament.

Six days after suffering a shutout loss to the No. 6-ranked team in the country, the No. 8-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team upset No. 3 Chicago 6-3 Friday night in a rematch of last season’s NCAA Central Region championship. The Gustavus men's tennis doubles pair of Mohanad Alhouni (Sr., Tripoli, Libya) and Patrick Whaling (Jr., Manikob Sabot, Va.) defeated Brady Anderson and Nate Ackert of Coe College 6-4, 6-4 to claim the ITA Midwest Regional Doubles Title on Sunday at Swanson Tennis Center.
