Women’s Swimming & Diving MIAC Championships Wrap-Up
The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team claimed it’s third MIAC Title in four years by winning the 2010 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday. The Gusties scored a total of 744 points, 155.5 points ahead of second place Carleton (588.5). St. Thomas rounded out the top three in third place with 497 points. The Gustie women have won the MIAC Championship seven times since the 2000-01 season.
Men’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Second At MIAC Championships
St. Thomas compiled 709 points to claim the 2010 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday night in the Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The Tommies held off Gustavus, who finished in second place for the second consecutive year, tallying 701 points over the past three days. St. Olaf rounded out the top three by taking third with 615.5 points.

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team compiled 744 points to claim the 2010 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday evening in the Aquatics Center on the Campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Gustavus led after the first two days of competition, totaling 472 points entering Saturday’s races. The Gusties scored 272 points on Saturday to take the MIAC crown.

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team held strong and finished day two of the MIAC Championships in first place with 472 points. Carleton will push the Gusties tomorrow, as the Knights sit in second place with 402 points. St. Thomas is in third place (334 pts), while St. Olaf (316 pts) and Saint Ben’s (265) are in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving fell to second place (453 points) after the second day of competition at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships. St. Thomas is the current leader with 462 points, as St. Olaf sits in third with 396.5 points. Saint John’s is in fourth (357.5), while Carleton is in fifth (269).

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team is currently in first place with 208 points after the first day of competition at the MIAC Championships in the Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Carleton is in second place with 142 points, as St. Thomas rounds out the top three in third with 141 points. Gustavus senior Carrie Gundersen had the best swim of the day, taking first place in the 500 freestyle with an NCAA A qualifying time of 4:59.02.

Cole Carlson Wins 400 Meters To Highlight Men’s Track and Field Performance At MIAC Championships
Junior Cole Carlson won the 400 meter dash with a NCAA provisional school record time of 48.03 to help the Gustavus men's track and field team finish in seventh place with 65.5 points at the MIAC Championships hosted by Carleton College. Senior Tyler Geyen earned second in the 110 meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 14.50 and fifth in the javelin at a distance of 172 feet, 7 inches. St. Thomas claimed the team championship with 182 points, while Saint John's finished second with 125 points.
Women’s Track and Field Posts Strongest Program Finish At MIAC Championships, Places Second
The Gustavus women's track and field team won seven individual events as it compiled 173 points, which is the highest point total in program history, to finish second at the MIAC Championships hosted by Carleton College. Sophomore Sam Broderius (Hector, Minn.) captured multiple event titles with NCAA provisional marks in the shot put with a distance of 44 feet, 8 3/4 inches and the discus with a distance of 148 feet, 3 inches.
