Men’s Swimming and Diving Improve To 14th Place After Second Day Of NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team improved to 14th place with 67 points after the second day of the NCAA Championships, which are being hosted by The College of Wooster. Kenyon College remained in first place with 429 points, well ahead of Denison University, which was in second place with 246.5 points.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Team In 17th Place After First Day of NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming team is in 17th place after the first day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which are being held at The College of Wooster in Oxford, Ohio. Kenyon College of Gambier, Ohio is in first place with 201 points. The Gusties scored 23 points and trail 16th place Rochester Institute of Technology (26) by three points.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Set To Participate in NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team will send eight competitors to the NCAA Championships which will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Miami of Ohio University Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, Ohio hosted by the College of Wooster. Matt Stewart, Ben Hanson, and Skylar Davis qualified automatically for the national meet in individual events.

Men’s Swimming Wins Gustavus Invitational

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team turned in a strong performance by finishing first at the Gustavus Invitational at Lund Natatorium on Saturday. The Gusties claimed top honors with 1,252 points, well ahead of Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato at 573.5 points, St. Thomas at 536 points, and Saint Mary's at 147.5 points. Coach Carlson's squad grabbed seven first-place finishes in the last meet before the MIAC Championships.

Men’s Swimming Tops Carleton 175-124

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team continued to compete well in 2008 with a 175-124 win over Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. The Golden Gusties won nine events and finished second in nine events as well. Of those events, Coach Carlson's squad claimed first and second place in five events, including the 200 butterfly, the 50 freeestyle, the 100 freestyle, the 200 backstroke, and the 200 IM. Connor Ziegler was the only multiple event winner, male or female, for Gustavus.

Men’s Swimming Defeats Macalester 162-39

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team turned in an impressive 162-39 dual meet victory over Macalester Friday evening at Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. The Gusties won nine individual events and one relay. Matt Stewart and Steve Howard were double winners during the meet.

Men’s Swimming Finishes Third At UW-Stevens Point Invitational

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team turned in a third place finish with 683.5 points at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational in Stevens Point, Wis. The Gusties finished 123.5 points behind first-place University of North Dakota. Matt Stewart, Skylar Davis and Ben Hanson turned in outstanding performances as all three swimmers turned in three top five finishes each at the meet that featured three Division II schools,

Men’s and Women’s Swimming Open New Year With Wins At CSB/SJU Invitational

The Gustavus men's and women's swimming programs started the new year by bringing home both first place titles from the CSB/SJU Winter Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. on Saturday. The Golden Gustie men captured 963 points, while St. Thomas finished in second place with 688 points and St. John's compiled 534 points for third. On the women's side, Gustavus tallied 896 points with Saint Benedict close behind with 856 points. St. Thomas rounded out the competition with 669 points.

Matt Stewart Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Matt Stewart (Burnsville, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2007. Stewart had a stellar meet this past Saturday as Gustavus won the Gustavus Triangular over Luther College and St. John's University in St. Peter. He took home first place in the 100 butterfly (52.55) and the 200 butterfly (1:56.17) and tied for first in the 500 freestyle (4:48.16).

Gustavus Swimming Programs Set to Take Part in Ted Mullins Hour of Power to Benefit Cancer Research

The Gustavus Adolphus College swimming and diving teams are taking part in the second annual Ted Mullin Hour of Power Relay for cancer research on Tuesday, Nov. 6 beginning at 4 p.m. in honor of former Carleton swimmer Edward H. "Ted" Mullin, who passed away from a rare soft-tissue cancer in September 2006.
