The Gustavus baseball team opened its season Sunday with a doubleheader against Mount Marty after inclement weather cancelled Saturday’s scheduled season-opener. The Gusties dropped their first game 3-1, but rebounded in game two with a 2-0 win to start the season 1-1.

The Gustavus baseball team kicks off its 2016 season this weekend at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. The Gusties and Lancers (6-10) are slated for a doubleheader Sunday at Bob Tereshinski Stadium at Riverside Field.

Gustavus men’s track & field throwing specialist Sam Fischer (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) took 15th place in the weight throw Friday at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grinnell College. Fischer posted a mark of 16.38 meters (53-9) on his first toss, and could not better his throw in the next two attempts.
