The victory was the 400th in the history of the men's soccer program at Gustavus. The Gusties have compiled a 400-172-86 record for a .698 winning percentage in 42 seasons.

First year forward Chris Golv led the first half explosion with two goals and one assist. Senior defender Todd Johnson pitched in with the first goal of his career in the 28th minute. The Gusties are now 2-1 on the season.

The Gustavus men's soccer team will have a much younger look in 2008 due to the graduation of 12 seniors that helped last year's team post a record of 16-4-1 and tie for the conference title. Gustavus men's soccer players Max Malmquist and Flynn Stewart-Franzen are spending their summer vacation in Salt Lake City, Utah playing soccer for the Ogden Outlaws of the Premier Development League (PDL). The Outlaws defeated the Brigham Young Cougars 2-1 on the Fourth of July and Stewart-Franzen tied the score at 1-1 with a goal in the 56th minute.
