Martinson Selected As A Finalist For NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge, Vote Now To Help Him Be Selected

Gustavus senior forward David Martinson, has been selected as one of 22 finalists (that will eventually be paired down to six) from the West Region to take part in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge. Men’s Hockey Ties Saint John’s 3-3

The Gustavus men's hockey team skated away with a 3-3 tie against Saint John's Friday night in St. Peter, Minn. The Johnnies led 3-2 at the 8:36 mark of the third period but Gustavus' David Martinson tied it up 3-3 with 7:53 left on the clock. Both teams were unable to score in overtime play resulting in a 3-3 tie. The Gusties were led by Martinson with two goals and an assist.

Men’s Hockey Defeats Augsburg 3-2 To Complete Weekend Sweep

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for an important 3-2 win over Augsburg in Minneapolis on Saturday night. The Gusties got goals from Rory Dynan, Brad Wieck, and Joe Welch, while Josh Swartout registered 15 saves and picked up the win in goal.

Bigham’s Big Night Sparks Men’s Hockey Team To 6-2 Win Over Augsburg

Senior forward Eric Bigham scored two goals and assisted on two others to help the Gustavus men's hockey team post a convincing 6-2 win over Augsburg College at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Friday night. The Gusties led 2-0 after one period and 5-1 after two periods, before claiming the 6-2 victory. Bigham picked up assists on the first two Gustavus goals and then scored the Gusties third and sixth goals. Josh Swartout picked up the win in the nets.

Men’s Hockey Will Honor Brendan Loney On Feb. 12 At Hamline Game

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team will play host to the Hamline Pipers on Friday, February 12 and prior to the start of the game, the team will honor teammate Brendan Loney, a forward from Maple Grove, Minnesota, who was injured in a diving accident in July 2009.

David Pearson and David Martinson Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Team

Gustavus Adolphus College senior swimmer and junior hockey player David Martinson have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Pearson, a College Division First Team selection, and Martinson, a College Division Third Team selection, are the third and fourth Gustavus student-athletes to be named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans this year.

Former Gustavus Hockey Coach Don Roberts Selected To Receive Hobey Baker Legends of Hockey Award

Former Gustavus men's hockey coach Don Roberts has been selected to receive the 2009 Hobey Baker Legends of Hockey Award. The award will be presented on May 7 at 317 On Rice Park in St. Paul, Minn. Roberts,who coached the Gusties for 33 seasons, retired in 1997 as the winningest coach in the history of Division III hockey with a record of 532-290-25.
