Concordia's Karl Larson made a free throw with 00:03 on the clock as the Cobbers knocked off the Gustavus men's basketball team 69-68 on Saturday in Moorhead. Gustie junior Sam Paulson made a pair of free throws with 00:31 remaining to tie the game, but Larson made the second of two free throws to put Concordia ahead as Gustavus was unable to get a shot off on the last possession of the game. Robert Schmidt led the Gusties in scoring with 18 points as he went 4-for-5 from the three-point line.

Late Carleton Free Throws Sink Men’s Basketball In 72-67 loss

The Gustavus men's basketball team was unable to score in the last minute of the game as Carleton hit its free throws to hand the Gusties a 72-67 loss on Wednesday in Northfield. Gustavus held a 67-66 lead with 1:06 remaining, but the Knights made six straight free throws to grab the win. Ryan McPartland was the top Gustie scorer with 17 points followed by Bobby Johnson and Sam Paulson with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

The Gusties overcame a five-point halftime deficit by shooting 50.0 percent in the second half and holding the Johnnies to 33.3 percent from the floor. Head Coach Mark Hanson's squad went 26-for-47 from the floor for 55.3 percent, while holding the Pipers to 45.7 percent on 21-for-46 shooting.
