Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball player Jesse Van Sickle (Jr., Garden City, Minn./LCWM) has been named All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by a vote of the league's coaches. Bobby Johnson (Fy., Edina, Minn.) was named to the All-Rookie Team, while juniors Ryan McPartland (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) and Sam Paulson (Waseca, Minn.) received honorable mention.

The Gustavus men's basketball team outscored Saint John's 8-0 in the last 3:43 to pull out a 71-68 come-from-behind victory in the first round of the MIAC playoffs on Monday night in Collegeville. The Gustie offense hit 57 percent of its shots from the floor, but it was the defense down the stretch that proved to be the difference in the contest. Gustavus, which improved to 13-13 overall, earned the right to face St. Thomas in the semifinal round on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul.

Men’s Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale 71-60 At Saint John’s

The Gustavus men's basketball team's offensive woes continued on Saturday as the Gusties fell to Saint John's 71-60 in Collegeville in the final game of the regular season. The Gusties managed just 22 points in the first half and trailed by 13 at halftime. Sam Paulson recorded his first double-double of the season and second of his career with a game-high 17 points and 13 boards. Gustavus dropped to 12-13 overall and 11-9 in the MIAC, while the Johnnies improved to 14-11 overall and 12-8 in the league.

The Gustavus men's basketball team pulled to within three points with six minutes left in the game, but were unable to hit key baskets down the stretch as the Gusties fell 87-72 to Bethel on Wednesday night in Arden Hills. After a three-point play by Sam Paulson made the score 66-63, the Royals scored eight unanswered points over the next two minutes en route to the win. Gustavus was led by Jesse Van Sickle's career-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting.

In front of a full house with a playoff-like atmosphere, the top-ranked St. Thomas defense did not allow many clear looks at the basket as the Gustavus men's basketball team lost 72-59 at Gus Young Court on Saturday afternoon. The Tommies held the Gusties to 39 percent shooting, while going 53 percent from the floor themselves. Sam Paulson fell one rebound short of recording a double-double as he poured in 14 points and grabbed nine boards.

The Gustavus men's basketball team went on a decisive 31-2 run in the first half en route to clinching its ninth consecutive berth in the MIAC Playoffs after a 74-55 win against St. Olaf on Wednesday in St. Peter. The Gustavus men's basketball team moved one step closer to earning a spot in the MIAC Playoffs by defeating Carleton 59-53 on Monday night at Gus Young Court. In a very physical contest, the Gusties dominated the boards out-rebounding the Knights 39-23 eliminating second-chance scoring opportunities. Gustavus also executed on the offensive end, shooting 51.1 percent from the field. In a game that was a true team effort, no Gustie reached double-figures.

The Golden Gustie men's basketball team suffered a disappointing 70-59 loss to Hamline as the Pipers spoiled the 100th Anniversary of Gustavus Men's Basketball celebration on Saturday at Gus Young Court. The Gusties trailed by five points with four minutes remaining, but were unable to close the gap as Hamline picked up the win. Gustavus struggled to find its offensive touch as the Gusties went 21-for-63 from the field and failed to make a three-point basket, going 0-for-12.

Men’s Basketball Hands Macalester 87-59 Loss

The Gustavus men's basketball team did not miss many shots against Macalester on Wednesday night as it shot a blazing 62.3 percent from the field on 33-for-53 en route to an 87-59 win in St. Paul. The Gusties were equally impressive from the three-point line as they hit 8-of-13 from behind the arc and went a perfect 13-for-13 from the charity stripe. Bobby Johnson paced Gustavus, which improved to 10-9 overall and 9-5 in the league, with 15 points.
