Women’s Track and Field Scores 198, Wins At Carleton

The Gustie women's track and field team continued its indoor season with a win at Carleton's Meet of Hearts, held on Saturday, February 12, in Northfield. Gustavus posted eight first-place finishes on the day to win the meet with a total of 198 points.

Helland, Lundgren Lead Women’s Track and Field At Ted Nelson Classic

Seniors Janey Helland and Megan Lundgren led the Gustavus women's indoor track and field team at the Ted Nelson Classic held at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Helland won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 1/4 inches, while Lundgren won the 400 meter run in a time of 1:01.24.

 

Janey Helland Named MIAC Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus senior Janey Helland has been named MIAC Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in the pentathlon at the MSU, Mankato Invitational on January 28-29.

Helland, Lundgren Shine As Women’s Track And Field Opens Indoor Season

The Gustavus women's track and field team opened its 2011 indoor season at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday and Saturday, January 28-29. The Gusties were led by Janey Helland who won the heptathlon with a NCAA qualifying total of 3,503 points and Megan Lundgren who won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:20.48.

 

Volleyball Tops Bethany Lutheran 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team slipped past Bethany Lutheran College 3-0 in Mankato on Monday evening. All three sets were very competitive with the Gusties prevailing 25-23, 26-24, and 25-22. Angela Ahrendt and Janey Helland led the Gustavus attack with eight kills each.

Volleyball Falls To St. Scholastica In Opening Match Of Gustavus Classic

The Gustavus Volleyball team lost a tightly contested match to the College of St. Scholastica by a score of 1-3 (25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 22-25) on the first night of the Gustavus Classic, which was played in the Lund Center in St. Peter, Minn.

As a junior health fitness major, Janey Helland has already accomplished more in three years at Gustavus than many accomplish in four years. Helland has spent her entire collegiate career managing her time between track and field, volleyball and class work while achieving great success in all three phases. Gustavus Adolphus junior Janey Helland (Mapleton, Minn) has been named the Central Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
