Women’s Gymnastics Wraps Up Dual Meet Schedule With 178.225 To 175.725 Win At UW-Eau Claire

In the last dual meet of the season, the Gustavus women's gymnastics team defeated UW-Eau Claire 178.225 to 175.725 on Friday night in Eau Claire, Wis. The Gusties trailed by 0.3 points after vault and balance beam, but outscored the Blugolds by more than one point on balance beam and floor exercise to come away with the win. Seniors Laura Hansen and Christine Askham won event titles on the balance beam and the floor exercise, respectively, while sharing the uneven bars title.

Women’s Gymnastics Defeats UW-Stout 179.750-178.745 On Senior Day

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team put on a show in front of an enthusiastic crowd as it defeated UW-Stout 179.750 to 178.745 in the last home dual meet of the season on Thursday night in the Lund Center Forum. The Gusties posted season-best scores of 45.950 on the floor exercise and 43.775 on the uneven bars. Laura Hansen (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored 9.400 on the uneven bars to capture first place on the apparatus.

Laura Hansen Named WIAC Gymnastics Specialist Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior gymnast Laura Hansen (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week for the week ending February 15, 2009. Hansen turned in scores of 9.650 on the balance beam and 9.200 on the uneven parallel bars at the Best of Minnesota meet in Minneapolis on February 14.

Women’s Gymnastics Comes From Behind To Defeat UW-Oshkosh 172.825-172.775

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team overcame a 0.925 point deficit in the final rotation to defeat host UW-Oshkosh 172.825-172.775 on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties posted a score of 43.575 on the balance beam as seniors Laura Hansen, Meghan Johnson, and Jaime Tsurusaki recorded scores over 9.0 to overtake the Titans. Tsurusaki registered the highest score of the day after earning 9.150 on the beam.

Women’s Gymnastics Scores 171.625 At John Zuerlein Invitational For Third-Place Finish

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team posted a score of 171.625 to finish third at the John Zuerlein Invitational in Menomonie, Wis. on Friday night. Host UW-Stout and UW-Oshkosh tied for first place with team scores of 175.575. Seniors Aryn Bell and Laura Hansen turned in the top individual performances for the Gusties as Bell took second in the vault with a score of 9.325 and Hansen posted a score of 9.100 on the uneven bars for second place.

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team scored a season-best 174.450, but it was not enough to defeat UW-La Crosse, which scored 179.850 and won all four events, in a dual meet on Saturday at the Lund Center Forum. The Gusties were led by Laura Hansen (Sr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), who won the uneven parallel bars by 0.400 with a career-high score of 9.375.

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team finished second at the Gustavus Triangular with a score of 173.425 at the Lund Center Forum. The Gusties finished between Hamline University, which turned in a score of 169.800, and UW-Whitewater at 176.825. Individually, Gustavus was led by Aryn Bell, who posted a career best score of 9.350, winning the vault competition. Head Coach Kris Glidden's squad took first place on the balance beam at 44.975.

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team began the 2009 season with a 171.225 to 176.925 loss to Winona State University in Winona on Thursday night. Seniors Christine Askham and Jennifer Berglund turned in the highest score among the Gusties with a score of 9.100 on floor exercise. Senior Laura Hansen had the top finish posting a score of 8.975 for second place on the uneven parallel bars. Askham also finished second in the all-around competition tallying 34.675 points.

Gymnasts Aryn Bell, Laura Hansen Finish Year at NCGA Championships

Gustavus gymnasts Aryn Bell and Laura Hansen completed their 2008 seasons by competing at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships at Cortland State University in Cortland, New York. Bell finished in a tie for 42nd on the vault with a score of 9.225, while Hansen placed 52nd on the balance beam with a score of 8.475.

Gymnasts Laura Hansen and Aryn Bell To Compete in NCGA Championships in Cortland, New York This Weekend

Gustavus gymnasts Laura Hansen and Aryn Bell will take part in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) this Friday and Saturday at Cortland State University in Cortland, New York. Hansen qualified individually on the balance beam, while Bell qualified on the vault. This will be the third consecutive year that Hansen has participated at the national meet, however it will be the first appearance for Bell.
