Swimming & Diving Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named the Gustavus men’s and women’s teams to its Scholar All-America list for the 2018 Spring Semester. The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Gustie men achieved a 3.42 team GPA, while the women posted a 3.32.

Gustie Swimmers Conclude Competition At NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships concluded Saturday as Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) swam the 100 freestyle, and Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) competed in the 200 breaststroke. Webster and Reilly finished the 100 free in 20th and 30th place, respectively, with personal best times of 51.41 and 51.85. Sonnek was disqualified in the 200 breaststroke after the official deemed a turn violation.

Six Gusties To Represent Gustavus At NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

The Gustavus swimming team will be well-represented at the NCAA Division III Championships this week, which takes place Wednesday through Saturday at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Kennedy Holwerda (Sr., Willmar, Minn.), Alyssa Lokensgard (So., St. Peter, Minn.), Kate Reilly (Sr., Hastings, Minn.), Maggie Webster (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.), and Madeline Westendorp (So., St. Michael, Minn.) represent the women’s team, and Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) represents the men’s squad.

Swim & Dive Set To Compete At MIAC Championships This Week

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are set to compete at the MIAC Championships over a three-day span this week at the University of Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. Two sessions will be held each day Thursday through Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Last season, both the Gustie men and women took second place at the conference meet.

Swim & Dive Wins Nine Of 10 Events In Session One Of Gustie Invite

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swim & dive teams finished session one of the Gustavus Invitational in great shape Friday evening with multiple top times. The Gustie women won all five events, while the men won four of five events in the opening session.

Swimming & Diving Hosts Final Invitational Before Conference Meet

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swim & dive teams are set for their final tune-up before the MIAC Championships, hosting an invitational on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s session begins at 6 p.m., while the two Saturday sessions are 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Vic Gustafson Pool. Other teams competing include Carleton, Saint Mary’s, and St. Olaf.

Swim & Dive Squads Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the teams that have earned the distinction of Scholar All-America team for the Fall 2017 semester and both the Gustavus men’s and women’s teams received the recognition. The Gustie men posted a 3.25 team GPA, while the women tallied a 3.32 team GPA. To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall semester.

Swim & Dive Teams Take Second At UW-Stevens Point Invite

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams finished where they started the day at the UW-Stevens Point Invite, both taking second place. The men tallied 942 points behind host UW-Stevens Point’s 1,386, while the women accumulated 866 points behind Division II Minnesota State, Mankato’s 1,352.5.

Swimming & Diving Teams Sit In Second Place After Day One At UW-Stevens Point Invite

Both the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams sit in second place after day one of the UW-Stevens Point Invite on Friday. The women accumulated 381 points, while the men have 480. Division II Minnesota State, Mankato leads the four-team women’s field with 612 points and host UW-Stevens Point leads the three-team men’s field with 607.5 points.

Swimming & Diving Back Home Friday For MIAC Dual Against Carleton

After spending the holiday break in Fort Myers, Fla. for their midseason training trip, the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are back home and set to host Carleton in a MIAC dual at 5 p.m. Friday. Both the men and women have started the season with victories in four different meets, including conference wins over Hamline, Saint Mary’s, and St. Olaf.
