The Gustavus men’s hockey team fell short against No. 15-ranked St. Scholastica on Friday night, losing 4-1 to drop to 3-6-2 overall on the season.
The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team is set to close out the 2015 calendar year with a non-conference game at the College of St. Scholastica at 7 p.m. Friday. For the second time in three games, the Gustavus men’s hockey team skated away with an overtime victory as it defeated Saint John’s University 2-1 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 3-5-2 overall and 2-4 in the MIAC. The game-winner came 3:20 into the overtime period as a close shot from the right side by Drew Aspinwall (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) was turned away behind the goal. Van Sullivan (Fy., Brentwood, Tenn.) then gathered the puck and found Alex Koopmeiners (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) in front of the crease as he took a quick slap-shot that went past the blocker side of the Johnnie goalie for the sudden death win.

Gustavus enters with a 2-4-2 overall record and 1-3 mark in the MIAC, while the Johnnies are 2-6-2 overall and 2-2 in the league. The Black and Gold most recently played Augsburg College in a two-game series on Nov. 20 and 21, losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second 4-3 in overtime. The Johnnies traveled to New York last weekend and lost 4-2 to Utica followed by a 2-0 setback against Oswego State.
