Chad Arlt Named To Pre-Season CDS All-America Team

Gustavus Adolphus football wide receiver Chad Arlt (Sr., St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) has been named to the Pre-Season All-America Team as released by Consensus Draft Services (CDS). Arlt, a second-team selection, was one of three MIAC athletes chosen for the 54-member first and second teams.

Football Player Jared Sieling Receives Academic Honor From The National Football Foundation

The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced that Gustavus football player Jared Sieling is a part of the 2008 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a 3.2 GPA or better.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has selected Gustavus senior linebacker Jared Sieling as the Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding efforts in the Gusties season ending 37-14 win over Carleton College.

Football Team Wraps Up 2007 Season with 37-14 Win Over Carleton

The Gustavus football team broke open a tight game with two third quarter defensive touchdowns and then added two more scores on its way to a convincing 37-14 win over Carleton at Lloyd Hollingsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Gustie offense compiled 399 yards of total offense, while the defense forced three turnovers and limited the Knights to 255 yards of total offense. Gustavus finishes the season at 5-5 overall and 3-5 in the MIAC.

Football Team Set to Face Carleton on Senior Day

The Gustavus football team will wrap up its 2007 schedule with a home game against Carleton. The Gusties will play tribute to 13 seniors playing their final game at Lloyd Hollingsworth Field. Gustavus enters the game with a record of 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the MIAC, while Carleton enters with a mark of 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the MIAC.

Football Team Falls to Concordia 34-24

The Gustavus football team fell to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the MIAC with a 34-24 loss to Concordia at Lloyd Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties were not able to slow down the vaunted Cobber running game as Concordia carried 60 times for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Chad Arlt had another big day as he made 11 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Gusties.

Football Team Suffers Heartbreaking 44-38 Loss at Augsburg, Falls to 4-4 On The Season

The Gustavus football team rallied from a 24-10 halftime deficit to tie the score at 38-38, but Augsburg scored with :19 left in regulation play and the Auggies escaped with a 44-38 victory. Gustavus wide receiver Chad Arlt made 11 catches for 252 yards and broke a 30-year old school record for yards receiving in a game.

The Gustavus football team scored six of the first eight times it had possession of the ball and rolled to a 41-12 non-conference win over Macalester College at Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. Junior wide receiver Chad Arlt had a big day for the Gusties as he made 12 catches for 151 yards and one touchdown, while also breaking the school record for catches in a season.

Football Team Suffers Disappointing 40-0 Homecoming Loss to Saint John’s

The Gustavus football team got off to a slow start for the third consecutive game and #3 Saint John's took advantage by jumping out to a 13-0 lead on their way to a decisive 40-0 win in front of a standing room only Homecoming crowd of 5,200 at Hollingsworth Field. The Gustie offense never got on track in the game compiling a meager 133 yards of total offense against the Johnnie defensive unit. Gustavus has now lost three straight games and falls to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the MIAC.

Football Team Set to Host Saint John’s for Homecoming

The Gustavus football team will host Saint John's University in a key MIAC matchup on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Hollingsworth Field on the Gustavus campus. It is Homecoming Day for the Gusties. Gustavus enters with a record of 3-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the MIAC, while the third ranked Johnnies enter with a mark of 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC.
