Football Loses to Bethel 38-23

The Gustavus football team suffered its second consecutive loss with a 38-23 setback at Bethel on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties got down 21-0 at the start of the game and could not recover in losing for the second time this season. Wide receiver Chad Arlt had a big day for Gustavus as he made 13 catches for 163 yards and one touchdown.

Football Team Sees Winning Streak Come to Screeching Halt with 59-19 Loss to St. Olaf

The Gustavus football team could not keep up with the high-powered St. Olaf offense as the Oles raced past the Gusties by the score of 59-19 in Northfield on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties trailed 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, however the Oles erupted for 21 points in the second quarter and led 35-12 at halftime. Gustavus which was averaging 537 yards of offense was held to 296 yards on the day. Wide receiver John Retka led the offense with six catches for 85 yards and one touchdown.

Football Team Stays Unbeaten With 57-21 Win Over Hamline

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team remained unbeaten with a convincing 57-21 win over Hamline University in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties jumped out to a 41-0 lead in the first half and then rolled to the 36-point victory. The offense, led by quarterback Jordan Stolp, had another big day compiling 601 yards of total offense and scoring eight touchdowns. Gustavus is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC.

Safety Hamada Omar Named MIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Gustavus sophomore safety Hamada Omar has been named Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the University of St. Thomas last Saturday. Omar compiled nine tackles (four solo stops), recorded one pass breakup, forced a fumble, and intercepted a pass to help the Gusties claim a 30-14 win over the Tommies.

Football Team Stays Unbeaten with 30-14 Win at St. Thomas

The Gustavus football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 30-14 win over St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. The Gustie offense was impressive all day scoring four touchdowns and amassing 544 yards of total offense. Senior quarterback Jordan Stolp had a big day for Gustavus as he completed 33-of-49 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for one TD as well. The Gusties will play Hamline next Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.

Gustavus Football Team Christens New Stadium With 34-25 Win Over Willamette

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team christened its new football stadium with a thrilling 34-25 come-from-behind win over Willamette University in front of a partisan crowd of nearly 4,000 fans. The Gusties trailed 17-13 heading into the fourth quarter, however Jordan Stolp threw two touchdown passes and Mitch Anderson recorded a 12-yard touchdown run to allow Gustavus to post its second consecutive win over Willamette.

Football Team Optimistic About 2007 After Strong Finish Last Season

The 2007 Gustavus Adolphus College football team will be looking to pick up where it left off at the end of the 2006 season when the Golden Gusties won their final four games of the season to finish with a record of 6-4-0. Gustavus will begin a new era in the program's history with the dedication of a new $4.6 million stadium on Saturday, September 8 when the Gusties face Willamette University.

Former Gustavus Football Standout Ryan Hoag In Training Camp with the Washington Redskins

Former Gustavus football standout Ryan Hoag continues his dream of playing in the National Football League as he is currently in training camp with the Washington Redskins. Hoag was allocated to NFL Europa by the Redskins and played with the Berlin Thunder this past summer. This is the fifth consecutive year Hoag has been a part of an NFL Training Camp. He has previously played with the Oakland Raiders, the New York Giants, and the Minnesota Vikings.

Adam Miron Named Second Team All-West Region by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette

Gustavus Adolphus College senior football player Adam Miron (Princeton, Minn.) has been named to the 2006 All-West Region Second Team as selected by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Miron, an inside linebacker, was also named a First Team All-MIAC selection in November after helping lead the Gusties to a 6-4 record overall and a fifth-place finish in the MIAC with league mark of 4-4.

Football Edges Carleton 14-10 in Season Finale

Two first-half touchdowns proved to be enough Saturday as the Gustavus Adolphus football team edged Carleton 14-10 in the team's season finale in Northfield. The Gustavus defense amassed five takeaways (four interceptions, one fumble) and Jordan Stolp threw a pair of touchdowns for the Gusties. Gustavus (6-4 overall, 4-4 MIAC) closed the year on a four-game winning streak.
