The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has selected Gustavus senior linebacker Jared Sieling as the Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding efforts in the Gusties season ending 37-14 win over Carleton College.

Sieling (Watertown, Minn.) completed his standout career with 15 tackles, including four tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception return for a touchdown to help the Gusties defeat Knights. Sieling’s timely blitzes put pressure on Carleton’s quarterback for much of the day and then in the third quarter with Gustavus holding on to a slim 10-7 lead, Sieling intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown sparking a 30-point third quarter for the Gusties. Sieling’s 15 stops pushed his season total to 105 making him only the second player in the program’s history to post two 100 tackle seasons in his career. Gustavus finished the season with a mark of 5-5 overall.
