Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Remain in First After Second Day of MIAC Championships
The Gustavus women's swimming team turned in another strong performance and remained in first place with a 70-point lead over St. Olaf after the second day of the MIAC Championships. The Gustie men are in first place just 40 points ahead of St. Olaf. The championships, which are taking place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, will conclude with competition on Saturday.
Women’s Swimming Finishes Second And Men’s Swimming Finishes Fifth At Carthage Invite
The Gustavus women's swimming team finished second with 1,224 points behind St. Cloud State University after the Carthage Invitational concluded on Saturday in Kenosha, Wis. The Gustavus men's swimming team turned in a fifth place performance with 852 points behind first place St. Cloud State University. Both squads turned in twelve more top five finishes including one National "B" Provisional qualifying finish on Saturday.
Upsets Continue To Be The Theme For Day Two of Men’s ITA Midwest Regional Tournament
Despite play being moved indoors and outdoors due to weather, seeded players continued to fall in the singles and doubles draws of the Men's ITA Midwest Regional Tournament held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Saturday. Only two of the top ten seeds advanced to the semifinal round of singles play, while a Gustavus doubles team is guaranteed to win the doubles draw.
Gustavus Splits Day Two of Gustavus Classic, finishes 2-2 for the Tournament
The Gustavus volleyball team split matches on the last day of the Gustavus Classic defeating St. Scholastica 3-0 before falling to Viterbo 3-1. Gustavus finished the weekend with a 2-2 record and a 6-2 record overall. Seniors Jen Thelemann and Andrea Kron again paced the Gusties with 32 kills and 23 kills, respectively. Kron was named to the eight-member all-tournament team.
Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at NWU Fall Preview
The Gustavus men's golf team compiled a team score of 304-310--614 to finish in seventh place at the 14-team Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Preview. Guilford College, the defending national champion, shot a second-round 293 to win the tournament by seven strokes over Nebraska Wesleyan University. NWU, which had held the first-day lead, shot 306 on day two to finish with a 36-hole total of 598. Tuesday's round was played at Firethorn Golf Club, site of the 2006 NCAA Division III National Championships.
