The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2010 Fall Academic All-Conference team this week and four Gustavus cross country runners were named to the academic honor squad. That group included Danielle Burgmeier, Kate Eggers, Beth Hauer, and Laura Secor.
The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team placed seventh overall in the combined team standings for the NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships held Saturday in Houghton, Mich. The Freestyle and Classic races were both held on the same day due to blustery conditions that hit the competition site on Friday with winds in excess of 40 miles per hour.
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams finished competition at the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championships on Sunday in favorable fashion, improving on Saturday’s Freestyle results to secure fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the overall team standings for the two-day meet.
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams turned in fifth and eighth place team finishes, respectively, in the freestyle event on the first day of the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championships held at Al Quaal Ski Trails in Ishpeming, Mich. The meet serves as the Gusties’ conference championship, and precedes the NCAA Central Region Qualifier to be held the weekend of February 18-19.
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams competed in the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with the Gustie women finishing second and the men taking home the title. The invitational was held at Theodore Wirth Park in St. Paul, Minn., and featured a handful of alums from the three schools participating in the event.

The men secured a fourth place finish amongst Central Collegiate Ski Association teams while the women finished in sixth place to wrap up a productive weekend for the Gusties.

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team registered 26 top five finishes at the Gustavus Adolphus College Drake Alternative Meet held in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. Janey Helland, Allyson Voss, Megan Lundgren, and Danielle Burgmeier all tallied first place finishes on the day. No team scores were kept at the meet.
