Men’s Track & Field Performs Well at St. Thomas

The Gustavus men’s track and field team started its indoor season Friday night at St. Thomas and came home with a number of encouraging results, including three first place finishes.

Hensch Places 12th In Shot Put At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Gustavus throwing specialist Michael Hensch (Jr., North Branch, Minn.) competed in the shot put Friday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships and took 12th place with a heave of 52-1.25. Hensch exceeded his entry as he was seeded 18th out of 20.

Brenden Huber Named Head Cross Country Coach

The Gustavus cross country and track & field programs will see a shift in coaching responsibilities, Athletics Director Tom Brown announced today. Brenden Huber, who has been the lead assistant for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams the past eight years, has been promoted to head men’s and women’s cross country coach. Dale Bahr, head coach for both the cross country and track & field programs the past eight years, will now focus his attention solely on the men’s and women’s track & field teams. Huber will remain as the lead assistant for the track & field program.

Hensch Takes 17th In Javelin At NCAA Championships

Gustavus men’s throwing specialist Michael Hensch (So., North Branch, Minn.) took 17th place in the javelin Thursday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Hensch’s throw registered at 182-10. Seth Nonnenmacher, a junior from George Fox, won the event with a heave of 227-1 setting a new stadium record at the SPIRE Institute.

Track & Field Men Sit In Second At MIAC Championships, Women 12th After Day One

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in day one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Friday, hosted by Hamline University. After the first day, the Gustie men sit in second place with 35 points, while the women are in 12th with 8.14 points. St. Thomas is in first place for both men and women.

Men’s Track & Field Wins Macalester Kilt Classic, Women Take Third

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track and field teams started the indoor season strong Friday at Macalester’s Kilt Classic. The men took first place with 179 points, including seven individual event champions, while the women took third place with 116 points, including three event champs.

2017 Indoor Track & Field Season Begins Friday At Macalester’s Kilt Classic

The Gustavus men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to kick off the 2017 indoor season Friday at Macalester’s Kilt Classic. The meet begins at 5 p.m. at the Leonard Center and includes five Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams: Augsburg, Bethel, Gustavus, Macalester, and St. Catherine.

Men’s Cross Country Takes Fifth of 20 Teams At St. Olaf Invite

The Gustavus men’s cross country team took fifth place out of 20 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, scoring 117 points. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the event, Michigan Tech took second, and Minnesota-Duluth placed third. Host St. Olaf was in fourth place, 19 points ahead of Gustavus.

Women’s Cross Country Takes 11th of 23 At St. Olaf Invite

The Gustavus women’s cross country team took 11th place out of 23 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, scoring 371 points. Minnesota-Duluth took first, Carleton placed second, and host St. Olaf came in third.
