Winning Streak Snapped As Men’s Soccer Losses 2-1 To Carleton

The Gustavus men's soccer team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss to Carleton Saturday afternoon in Northfield. Carleton scored two goals in the first half to give the Knights a 2-0 lead they would not surrender. The Gusties got on the board in the second half with goal from Mike Butterworth. Gustavus falls to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in MIAC play. Carleton improves its record to 8-1-1 and 4-0-1 in the MIAC.

Women’s Soccer Team Loses to Carleton 2-1

The Gustavus women's soccer team suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Carleton on the Gustavus Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon. The Knights scored one goal in the first half and one in the second half to build a 2-0 lead, before the Gusties cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Ashley Anderson in the 84th minute. Gustavus pressured the Knights late in the match to try and tie the score but could score the equalizer.

Baseball Clinches MIAC Playoff Berth With Sweep of Carleton

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team locked up a spot in next weekend's MIAC Post-season Tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Carleton Wednesday in Northfield. Gustavus posted a 10-0 win in game one behind four RBIs by Tony Konicek and held off a Carleton rally after scoring seven runs in the first inning to take game two 10-8. Gustavus hosts league-leader St. Olaf Saturday.

Men’s Track and Field Tie for Sixth at Carleton Relays

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's track and field team tied for sixth place in a field of 18 teams at the Carleton Relays Saturday in Northfield. The Gusties tied Hamline with 71 points, while Wisconsin-Eau Claire (118 pts.) edged Saint John's (109.5) and St. Thomas (105). Cole Carlson won the 400-meter dash, while Tanner Miest and Tyler Geyen finished 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field Competes at Carleton Pre-MIAC Meet

The Gustavus women's indoor track and field team won a pair of events and racked up four runner-up finishes at Friday's Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Carleton College. No team scores were kept. Janna Castellano broke the school record and bettered her NCAA provisional qualifying effort in the pole vault, winning the event after clearing 11-7 3/4.

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team closed out its regular season with a 71-65 loss at Carleton Saturday afternoon in Northfield. Gustavus takes a 13-12 record overall into the MIAC Playoffs where they will host Carleton in a quarterfinal matchup Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. in St. Peter. Trevor Wittwer led the Gusties with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting.

Men’s Basketball Falls to Carleton 66-53

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team fell to Carleton 66-53 Wednesday night in St. Peter, reaching the midway point of the conference season alone in third place in the MIAC standings with a 6-4 league mark. Phil Sowden led Gustavus (8-7) with 21 points and seven rebounds. Carleton (6-9, 5-5 MIAC), which went on a 14-0 run in the second half, was led by Jake Phillips with 19.

Two first-half touchdowns proved to be enough Saturday as the Gustavus Adolphus football team edged Carleton 14-10 in the team's season finale in Northfield. The Gustavus defense amassed five takeaways (four interceptions, one fumble) and Jordan Stolp threw a pair of touchdowns for the Gusties. Gustavus (6-4 overall, 4-4 MIAC) closed the year on a four-game winning streak.

The Gustavus men's soccer team pulled out a 2-0 victory over Carleton College, Wednesday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties took a 1-0 early lead in the first half and then played exceptional defense the rest of the way. The second goal came with 23 seconds left to play on a Mike Butterworth breakaway. Gustavus extends its unbeaten streak to five games, and improves its record to 4-0-1, while getting its first win in MIAC play. The Knights fall to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the MIAC.
