Seth Anderson Scores School Record 45 Points, Men’s Basketball Defeats Buena Vista 98-96 At The Buzzer

The Gustavus men's basketball team used a 45-point effort and a last second buzzer-beater by senior captain Seth Anderson to defeat Buena Vista in the season opener on Tuesday night in Storm Lake, Iowa. Anderson's point total is a new school record, surpassing D.L. Smith's 1957 record of 41 points.

Jackson Zoellner recorded a season high four points on a goal and two assists in Gustavus' 5-0 win over Buena Vista. 

Defense Shines As Men’s Soccer Blanks Buena Vista 5-0

Goalkeeper Brett Ylonen ceased to get a look at a shot on Wednesday afternoon in Storm Lake, Iowa, as the Gustavus men's soccer team claimed a 5-0 victory over Buena Vista University. The Gusties improve 7-1-0 with the non-conference victory, while Buena Vista drops to 3-4-0.

Strong Second Half Propels Men’s Basketball to 95-81 Win Over Buena Vista

The Gustavus men's basketball team opened its 2010-11 season with a 95-81 win over Buena Vista University on Monday night in St. Peter. The Gusties made 9-of-10 free throws in the final 90 seconds of the game to secure the victory. Phil Wirtjes led Gustavus with 21 points.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes At Gustie Invitational

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team scored 30 top-five finishes at the Gustie Invitational held at the Gustavus Outdoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties won seven events, while reaching the podium in a total of 19 events on the afternoon. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Registers Nine Event Wins At Gustie Invitational

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team registered 31 top-five finishes at the Gustie Invitational held at the Gustavus Outdoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties tallied nine individual event wins at the meet, as there were no team scores kept.

Baseball Battles Back In Game Two, Salvages Split With Buena Vista

The Gustavus baseball team recorded its fourth consecutive doubleheader split with Buena Vista University on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties lost game one 6-3 before winning game two 6-5 in eight innings. A two-RBI double by Chad Eul tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning, and an RBI base hit by Drew Block in the eighth gave Gustavus the extra-inning victory.

Baseball Swept By Buena Vista After Late Inning Rallies 4-7, 8-11

The Gustavus baseball team lost early leads in both games of a doubleheader against Buena Vista as the Gusties fell 4-7 and 8-11 on Sunday afternoon in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Beavers hit a walk-off three-run home run in the seventh inning to win game one and scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the victory in game two. Gustavus fell to 3-3 overall, while Buena Vista improved its record to 5-1.

Men’s Basketball Knocks Off Buena Vista 62-58 In Home Opener

Clutch free-throw shooting from Jesse Van Sickle and Mike DesLauriers late in the second half helped the Gustavus men's basketball team upset eighth-ranked Buena Vista University 62-58 on Tuesday night in St. Peter. The Gusties, who led 40-27 at halftime, saw their lead cut to two points with :10 remaining before DesLauriers sank a pair of free throws to clinch the win in Gustavus' home opener. Van Sickle scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Gusties,

Chris Golv scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. 

Men’s Soccer Holds On For 3-2 Win At Buena Vista

The Gustavus men's soccer team jumped out to a 3-1 lead against non-conference foe Buena Vista on Sunday, but then had to hold off a late charge from the Beavers to claim a 3-2 win in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Gusties got goals from Max Malmquist, Fraser Horton, and Chris Golv, while Luke Strom picked up the win in goal. Gustavus is now 12-4-1 on the season.

Gusties Explode For Eight Goals In Win Over Buena Vista

The Gustavus women's soccer team exploded for eight goals, five in the second half, en route to an 8-0 win over the Beavers from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa Sunday afternoon. Senior Ashley Voigtlander scored the winning goal just 62 seconds into the match and Ashley Ohlson got the shutout in goal for the Gusties. Gustavus improves its season record to 7-7-3, while Buena Vista drops to 2-15-0 on the season.
