Women’s Hockey Remains Undefeated In MIAC With 3-0 Win Over Bethel

The Gustavus women's hockey team remained undefeated in MIAC play with a 3-0 win over the Bethel Royals Friday night in Blaine. Mari Gunderson scored two goals in less than two minutes in the third period as she found a way to get the puck past Bethel goaltender Beth Spurrier. Spurrier kept the Royals in the game as she was an impenetrable wall in the nets by making 66 saves in the losing effort. Gustavus improved to 12-1-0 and 7-0-0 in the MIAC,

Men’s Basketball Gets Defensive in 69-55 Win Over Bethel

The Gustavus men's basketball turned up the defensive pressure in the second half limiting Bethel to only 17 points in the final 20 minutes and pulling away for an impressive 69-55 conference win at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Balanced scoring was again a key for the Gusties as four players reached double figures including Jesse Van Sickle with 15, Trevor Wittwer with 11, and Sam Paulson and Ryan McPartland with 10 each.

Strong First Half Propels Women’s Basketball Past Bethel 83-77

History did not repeat itself as the Gustavus women's basketball team withstood a second-half rally from Bethel to hang on for a 83-77 win on Wednesday night in Arden Hills. The Golden Gusties entered halftime with a 43-24 lead and was able to hold off the lone unbeaten team in the MIAC to improve the squad's record to 2-1 overall and in conference play. Bethel suffered its first loss of the season dropping to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the MIAC.

Men’s Soccer Tallies 400th Program Win With 1-0 Overtime Victory Over Bethel

The Gustavus men's soccer team made MIAC history Saturday by becoming the first men's soccer program to record 400 wins with a 1-0 overtime win against Bethel in Arden Hills. Fraser Horton scored the game-winner with two minutes remaining in overtime for the victory. Goalkeeper Trevor Brown posted the shutout making six saves in the nets. Gustavus improved its conference record to 7-1-0 and its overall record to 12-2-1. Bethel dropped to 0-7-0 in the MIAC and to 3-12-0 overall.

Women’s Soccer Shutout by Bethel 2-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team continued to struggle to score goals falling 2-0 to Bethel at Gustavus on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties controlled play for much of the game out-shooting the Royals 16-11, while holding an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks, however Bethel scored twice in a three-minute span late in the first half and claimed the 2-0 victory.

Football Loses to Bethel 38-23

The Gustavus football team suffered its second consecutive loss with a 38-23 setback at Bethel on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties got down 21-0 at the start of the game and could not recover in losing for the second time this season. Wide receiver Chad Arlt had a big day for Gustavus as he made 13 catches for 163 yards and one touchdown.

Volleyball Falls to MIAC Unbeaten Bethel 3-0

Coach Eckheart's volleyball faced another unbeaten conference team for the second consecutive day, and ended with the same result. Gustavus suffered its second straight loss Saturday afternoon to Bethel 3-0 in St. Peter. The Royals finished the match with 62 kills, including three players with at least 16 kills. The Gusties were led by Jen Thelemann with 11 kills. Gustavus drops to 11-4 with a 2-2 MIAC record, while Bethel improves to 13-2 and 5-0 in the MIAC.

Baseball Splits With Bethel; Bethany Lutheran Doubleheader Moved to Sunday

The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team picked up a doubleheader split with Bethel Saturday, inching closer to clinching a spot in the MIAC Playoffs. The teams combined with 69 hits and 19 extra-base hits between the two games. Pat Siering went 6-for-6 with five runs scored, five RBIs, and a pair of home runs to lead the Gusties. Also, Gustavus' doubleheader with Bethany Lutheran originally scheduled for Monday has been pushed up to Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. Peter.

Women’s Hockey Tops Bethel 4-0

The Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team moved to 14-1-0 overall and 9-0-0 in the MIAC with a 4-0 win over Bethel Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. Molly Doyle led the Gusties with a pair of second-period goals, while Mari Gunderson and Melissa Mackley each added a pair of assists. The weekend series continues at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine.

Men’s Basketball Upended by Bethel 72-66

The Gustavus Adolphus men's basketball team saw its record fall to 10-8 overall and 8-5 in the MIAC following a 72-66 loss to Bethel Wednesday night at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Gustavus led 39-36 at halftime, but was outscored 36-27 by the Royals in the second half. Bethel's Tim Madson scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Andrew Doble led four Gusties in double-figures with 16 points off the bench.
