Offense Lifts Gustavus Volleyball Over Bethel 3-0
The Gustavus volleyball team's hitters proved to be too much for Bethel University as the Gusties swept the Royals 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) in Arden Hills on Wednesday. Head Coach Kari Eckheart's tallied 46 kills compared to 28 for Bethel. Meghan Gehring (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis.) and Olivia Warren (Fy., Goodhue, Minn.) paced Gustavus with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. The Gusties improved to 15-2 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC and the Royals fell to 5-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Big Innings Propel Softball Past Bethel 9-0 And 8-0
Two high scoring innings proved to be the difference in 9-0 and 8-0 decisions between the Gustavus softball team and Bethel University in St. Peter on Tuesday. The Gusties scored nine runs in the first inning in game one and seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in game two to complete both games in five innings. Gustavus, which improved to 16-5 overall and 7-3 in the conference, posted its first MIAC doubleheader shutout since the Gusties shut out Hamline 4-0 and 6-0 on April 17, 2007.
Baseball Team Sweeps Bethel, Extends Win Streak To Six Games
The Gustavus baseball team extended its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep over Bethel on Monday afternoon in St. Peter. In the first game, Gustavus jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-3 win, and in the second game, the Gusties built a 6-1 lead and then held on for a 6-5 victory. Pat Siering had a big day at the plate going 5-for-6 with 2 RBI, while David Wold limited the Royals to five hits in seven innings and picked up the win on the mound in game one.
Women’s Tennis Picks Up Wins Over Bethel, Carleton, and Minnesota State, Mankato On Saturday
The Gustavus women's tennis team had another full day of competition at Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday as the Gusties came away with wins against Bethel, Carleton, and Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato. Gustavus defeated the Royals and the Knights 9-0 and fought for a 5-4 victory over the Mavericks to improve its dual match record to 7-2.
Men’s Basketball Posts Impressive 69-54 Win Over Bethel in Arden Hills
The Gustavus men's basketball team got back on the winning track with a convincing 69-54 win at Bethel on Wednesday night. The Gusties got balanced scoring from its starting five as Trevor Wittwer, Kane Sivesind, and Jesse Van Sickle contributed 14 points each, while Sam Paulson added 10, and Mike DesLauriers pitched in with eight.

The Golden Gustie women's basketball team hopes to continue its winning ways on Wednesday night against the Bethel Royals on Wednesday night at Gus Young Court. The Gustavus men's hockey team trailed 3-2 with five minutes left in the third period, however the Gusties rallied to score three time in the final 2:30 to claim an important 5-3 win over the Bethel Royals in Blaine, Minn. David Martinson scored the hat trick to lead Gustavus.

The Gustavus women's hockey team figured out how to get the puck past Bethel goaltender Beth Spurrier in a 7-1 win Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. One day after Spurrier stopped 66 shots and allowed only three goals, the Gusties got on the board three times in the first period. Gustavus improved to 13-1-0 on the season and 8-0-0 in the MIAC, while Bethel dropped to 6-7-1 overall and 3-5-0 in league play. The Gusties remain the only team undefeated in conference play in any winter sport.

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first period, however the Bethel Royals took over from there out-scoring the Gusties 6-1 the rest of the way to claim the 6-3 win in St. Peter.
