Men’s And Women’s Track & Field Battles Through Frigid Conditions At Lee Krough Invite
The Gustavus men’s and women’s track and field teams forged through temperatures in the mid-30’s and a surface lightly dusted with snow at the 11th Annual Lee Krough Invitational Track Meet on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. No team scores were kept at the meet, as competing teams included Bethany Lutheran, Carleton, UM-Morris, and MSU-Mankato.
Volleyball Tops Bethany Lutheran 3-0
The Gustavus volleyball team slipped past Bethany Lutheran College 3-0 in Mankato on Monday evening. All three sets were very competitive with the Gusties prevailing 25-23, 26-24, and 25-22. Angela Ahrendt and Janey Helland led the Gustavus attack with eight kills each.
Volleyball Falls To Bethany Lutheran in Five Sets
The Gustavus volleyball team got off to a fast start and looked impressive in building a 2-1 lead over Bethany Lutheran on Friday night, but the Vikings battled back to win the final two sets and claim a 3-2 win over the Gusties (10-25, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 15-11) at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Gustavus falls to 4-5 overall, while Bethany improves to 4-6 overall.
Men’s Basketball Falls To Bethany Lutheran 77-67 In Season Opener
The Gustavus men's basketball team fell in its 2008-09 season opener 77-67 to Bethany Lutheran in Mankato, Minn. Jesse Van Sickle hit a three-point shot to pull the Gusties within six points (72-66) with 1:11 remaining in the contest, but the Vikings converted five of six free throws to seal the win. Ky Battern paced Gustavus with 13 points off the bench, while Tommy Saffert scored a game-high 21 points for Bethany Lutheran.
Volleyball Sweeps Bethany Lutheran 3-0
Strong hitting combined with solid blocking lifted the Gustavus volleyball team past Bethany Lutheran 3-0 by the scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-14 in St. Peter Wednesday night. The Gusties hit .293 for the match with 30 kills and just eight errors, and outblocked the Vikings 9.0-1.0. Bethany Lutheran struggled offensively as it finished with 24 hitting errors compared to 28 kills. Gustavus remained undefeated at 9-0 overall, while the Vikings dropped to 3-6 overall.
Men’s Basketball Uses Late Run To Claim 88-76 Win Over Bethany Lutheran
The Gustavus men's basketball team outscored Bethany Lutheran College 17-8 over the final four minutes of the game, including 11-of-14 shooting from the free throw line in the final two minutes, to claim a hard-fought 88-76 non-conference win at home on Wednesday night. Trevor Wittwer had a big night for Gustavus as he scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Volleyball Wins Roller Coaster Match 3-1 Over Bethany Lutheran
The Golden Gustie volleyball team had its up and down moments in a 3-1 (30-19, 29-31, 30-14, 32-30) victory against Bethany Lutheran in Mankato Friday night. Gustavus dictated play in games one and three, while momentum shifted in the Vikings favor for game two and the majority of game four. Jennifer Thelemann paced all hitters with 22 kills, while chipping in nine digs.
Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Bethany Lutheran 9-3, 8-11
The Gustavus Adolphus College baseball team stepped out of MIAC play Sunday and picked up a doubleheader split with Bethany Lutheran College. The Gusties took game one 9-3, while the Vikings rode Jimmy Olson's two home runs and six RBIs to an 11-8 win in game two. Gustavus (19-11) will face Carleton in Northfield Wednesday afternoon.

Due to questionable field conditions at Myrum Memorial Field in St. Peter, the Gustavus Adolphus/Bethany Lutheran baseball game originally scheduled for Sunday, April 2 and rescheduled for Monday, April 3 has been postponed until Monday, April 17 at 3 p.m. The site of the game has not changed.
