The Gustavus baseball MIAC doubleheader with Saint Mary's in Winona, Minnesota on April 6 has been postponed due to field conditions at the Cardinal's Max Mollock Field. The game has be re-scheduled for April 7 at 2:30 pm.
Baseball Sweeps Carleton to Open MIAC Play, Spitzack Throws No-Hitter
The Gustavus baseball team opened 2005 MIAC play by sweeping Carleton College 5-0 and 12-5 in Northfield on Saturday. The sweep was highlighted by junior pitcher Josh Spitzack throwing a complete game (7 inn.) no-hitter in the Gusties 5-0 win in game one.
Baseball Team Heads to Clearwater, Florida for Spring Break
The Gustavus baseball team is heading to Clearwater, Florida from March 25 through 31 to take part in the Clearwater Classic spring break tournament. The Gusties will play 10 games in seven days in the Clearwater area.
Baseball Splits with Ramapo, Losing 12-11 and Winning 13-8
The Gustavus baseball team split its opening doubleheader on its spring break trip to Clearwater, Florida. The Gusties played Ramapo College of Mahwah, New Jersey losing the first game 12-11 and winning the second 13-8.
Chaska Cubs Sponsor MIAC Night on July 16
The Chaska Cubs baseball team is sponsoring MIAC night when the squad faces Rochester on July 16 at 7:30 pm. Any fan wearing clothing from a MIAC institution will be admitted free of charge. Stiftungfest burgers will also be served.
Baseball Team Falls 6-5 to St. Thomas in MIAC Championship Game
The Gustavus baseball team lost 6-5 to St. Thomas in the MIAC Playoff Championship game in Dundas, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties conclude their season at 29-15.
Baseball Team Advances to Second Day of the MIAC Tournament
The Gusties defeated Concordia 7-6 and then lost to St. Thomas 4-2 on Friday. The team will play St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in the consolation final.
Baseball Player Ben Sherer Named MIAC Player of the Year
Gustavus sophomore first baseman Ben Sherer has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year by the MIAC baseball coaches. A two-time all-conference selection, Sherer won the MIAC batting title with a .513 average.
Baseball Team Set to Play in MIAC Playoffs on Friday
The Gustavus baseball team will play Concordia on Friday at 3:00 pm at Sechler Park in Northfield in the first round of the MIAC tournament. The Cobbers are the #2 seed and the Gusties are the #3 seed in the four team double-elimination tournament.
Bryant Rogness Named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week
Bryant Rogness was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week for the period ending May 9. The senior second baseman had a .688 batting average, going 11 for 16 with 6 RBI and 10 runs scored.
