The Gustavus Adolphus Athletic Department concluded the Special Olympics winter season by hosting back-to-back area competitions on consecutive weekends in February. On Sunday, Feb. 7, Gustavus hosted the Area 9 aquatics competition at the Vic Gustafson Pool and on Sunday, Feb. 14, it held the Area 9 basketball tournament in the Lund Center Forum.
The Gustavus Adophus College women’s swim and dive team completed its first day of competition at the MIAC Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on Thursday evening. The Gusties ended the session with 223 points putting them in second place behind St. Thomas with 226 points. Hayley Booher highlighted the night with a new MIAC record in the 200 IM.

The Gusties are seeking their seventh consecutive MIAC crown after edging second place St. Thomas last season by 41.5 points.
The Gustavus women's swimming and diving proved once again that it is one of the top college teams in the region regardless of division with a strong showing at the University of Minnesota's Minnesota Challenge. Sophomore standout Kate Reilly (Hastings, Minn. / Minnesota Virtual Academy) led the Gusties with seven top-10 finishes, including three strong individual performances and a quartet of outstanding relay finishes. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Reilly Tuesday with her second MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week award of the 2015-16 season.

In its final dual of the season, the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s swimming and diving team took care of business against one its chief MIAC rivals on Friday evening at the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex Aquatic Center. The Gusties won a total of 12 events and kept their unblemished dual record intact by defeating the University of St. Thomas 155-138.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's swimming and diving team rose to the occasion at the Grinnell Invite, finishing second behind only Division I Nebraska-Omaha, defeating the rest of the Division II and III field. Sophomore standout Kate Reilly led the way with five first-place finishes - four individual and one relay - and she finished in the top three in all eight of her events. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Reilly Tuesday with the MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week award.
