Women’s Soccer Wins 2-1 In Overtime Over Carleton

The Gustavus women's soccer team improved to 5-1-0 on the season after it won in overtime against Carleton College by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday at the Gustavus Soccer Field. The game marked the beginning of conference play for both teams. Karen Maus scored the game winner for the Gusties with two minutes remaining in overtime. Carleton falls to 1-4-1 on the season.

Women’s Soccer Claims 5-0 Win Over Simpson College

The Gustavus women's soccer team completed a successful road trip down to Iowa this weekend, winning their second game of the trip by a score of 5-0 over Simpson College. The Gusties defeated Central College yesterday by a score of 4-0. Against Simpson, the Gusties were led by Meghan McMillan who had one goal and one assist on the day. Chelsea Bayer turned away one shot to record the shutout. The Gusties move to 4-1-0 on the season.

Women’s Soccer Claims 4-0 Victory Over Central College

The Gustavus women's soccer team pushed its record to 3-1 on the season after posting a 4-0 victory over Central College in Pella, Iowa. Nicole Kwapick scored the only goal of the first half, which would prove to be the game winner. Chelsea Bayer stopped two shots on goal to complete the shutout for Gustavus. Central College falls to 0-5 on the season.

Women’s Soccer Falls To Whitworth University 1-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to Whitworth University by a score of 1-0 on Sunday on the Gustavus Soccer Field. After 73 scoreless minutes, Lindsey Oakes found the back of the net for the Pirates to give Whitworth the lead for good. Gustavus falls to 2-1-0 on the season, while the Pirates improve to 2-0.

Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Martin Luther College 11-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 11-0 win over Martin Luther College on Friday at the Gustavus Soccer Field. Junior forward Ashley Anderson led the Gusties with three goals (all in the first half), while Jordan Brunsberg tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career. Goalkeepers Chelsea Bayer and Jessica Richert combined to get the shutout for Gustavus.

Women’s Soccer Opens With 5-0 Win Over Minnesota-Morris

The Gustavus women's soccer team opened up the 2009 season with an impressive 5-0 road victory over the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday afternoon. The Gusties were led in scoring by Meghan McMillan with two goals, and Rachel Iblings with one goal and two assists. Gustavus goalkeeper Chelsea Bayer posted a shutout stopping four shots on net. The Gusties play next at home on Friday, September 4, against Martin Luther College at 5:00pm.

Women’s Soccer Team Reports For Pre-Season Workouts

Head Coach Mike Stehlik welcomed 30 players to campus on Tuesday, August 18 to begin pre-season practices for the 2009 season. The Gusties open regular season play with a contest at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 2 pm. Stehlik will build his squad around 14 letterwinners including honorable mention All-Conference defenders Rachel Iblings and Alison Dittmer.

Women’s Soccer Player Chelsea Craven Named To All-Conference Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Soccer Coaches recently announced the 2008 All-Conference Team and Gustavus junior forward Chelsea Craven was named to the First Team. Craven, a native of St. Cloud, Minn., led the Gusties in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 19 points.

Alison Dittmer Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Gustavus women's soccer player Alison Dittmer, a defender from Plymouth, Minn., has been honored as a First Team selection on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. Dittmer maintains a 3.5 gpa with majors in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Women’s Soccer Ends Season With 3-1 Loss At St. Thomas

The Gustavus women's soccer team ended its 2008 season with a 3-1 loss to the Tommies from the University of St. Thomas on Saturday. Senior Callie Christensen put the Gusties up 1-0 in the 5th minute, but the Tommies came back with three unanswered goals. Gustavus ends the season with a record of 7-8-2 and 4-5-2 in the MIAC, while St. Thomas ends its season as undefeated MIAC champions with a 14-0-4 record (9-0-2 in the MIAC).
