Softball Wraps Up Play In Rochester With Two Shutouts

The Gustavus softball team closed out the weekend with a non-conference doubleheader sweep over the University of Dubuque and Grinnell College. The Gusties earned two shutouts, defeating Dubuque 6-0 and Grinnell 7-0 to improve their overall record to 5-1.

The Gustavus softball team heads back to the Rochester Regional Bubble this weekend, set for doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. The Gustavus softball team is set to open the 2017 campaign this Saturday in Rochester, Minn., faced with a non-conference doubleheader against Dominican University and Martin Luther College. Head Coach Britt Stewart in is her first season at the helm and is prepared to lead Gustavus in the program's 49th season. The Gusties are scheduled to face Dominican at 7 p.m., followed by a 9 p.m. start versus Martin Luther at the Rochester Regional Bubble.

Britt Stewart Named Head Softball Coach At Gustavus Adolphus College

Britt Stewart, a native of Minnetonka, Minn., has been named the head softball coach at Gustavus Adolphus College, which was announced Tuesday by Athletic Director Tom Brown. Stewart most recently completed her third season at Southwest Minnesota State University where she was the lead pitching and assistant hitting coach.

58 Gusties Recognized As MIAC Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference

Remarkably, student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) keep finding ways to achieve both in their chosen sports and in the classroom at ever-improving rates. For the first time in MIAC history, the conference recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes with Academic All-Conference honors. Gustavus has 58 student-athletes recognized as Winter-Spring Academic All-Conference.

Jeff Annis Announces Retirement As Head Softball Coach

Jeff Annis, head softball coach at Gustavus Adolphus College, has announced his retirement after 11 seasons at the helm of the program.

Six Gusties Recognized In MIAC Softball Postseason Awards

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2016 Softball postseason awards Monday afternoon and three Gusties were named to the All-Conference Team. Representing Gustavus on the 2016 MIAC All-Conference Softball Team are catcher Nathalee Boissiere (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.), pitcher/outfielder Hannah Heacox (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.), and first base/pitcher Jena Willis (Jr., Kalispell, Mt.). Outfielder Rachel Strandmark (So., New Ulm, Minn.), utility player Jessica Williams (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) and infielder Emily Webb (Fy., Maple Lake, Minn.) were also recognized by the MIAC as Honorable Mention selections.
