Men’s And Women’s Indoor Track & Field Have Record-Setting Day At Pre-MIAC Meet

The Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams took part in the Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul on Friday. Both the Gustie men and women had strong showings at the conference meet precursor setting Macalester indoor and field house records, but the men had an exceptional performance from their top pole vaulter.

Josh Owens Named Men’s Indoor Field Athlete Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named Gustavus junior Josh Owens as its Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Ted Nelson Classic at Minnesota State University-Mankato on Saturday. Owens won the pole vault against a field of NCAA Division II teams, clearing a height of 15-9.25 feet – 5.75 inches higher than the second place vaulter.

Men’s Track and Field Posts Strong Third Place Finish At MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men's track and field team delighted the home fans with a strong third place finish at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were held at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex on Friday and Saturday. Blair Riegl sparked the Gusties with an outstanding all-around performance as he won the long jump and 100 meter dash, while also finishing fourth in the triple jump, sixth in the 200 meter dash and participating on the 4 x 100 meter relay that placed second.

The Gustavus men's track and field team recorded 44.5 points in day one of competition at the 2011 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held in St. Peter, Minn. Saint John's is the currently leader with 67 points, while St. Thomas sits in second with 36.5 points.

Men’s And Women’s Track & Field Set To Host MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men's and women's track and field teams are set to host the 2011 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14 in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties will play host to the conference meet for the first time since 2002. The MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin with the women’s javelin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13 at the Gustavus Track and Field Complex.
