Scott Hagemeyer Named MIAC Male Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Scott Hagemeyer was named Co-Minnesota Intercolllegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for his performances at the Carthage Invitational last weekend. Hagemeyer shared Swimmer of the Week honors with Mark Glineburg of St. Olaf.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Captures Carthage Crown

Scott Hagemeyer eclipsed a pair of national "B" standards and Ben Hanson and Matt Stewart each recorded four top ten individual finishes as the Gustavus men's swimming and diving team claimed the team title at the 2005 TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic hosted by Carthage College on December 2-3. The Gusties edged host Carthage, 977.5-977, to win the meet. MIAC rival St. Olaf finished third with 958.5 points.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Downs St. Thomas; Fifth After Day One of Minnesota Invite

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team won eight of 13 events to outdistance St. Thomas in a MIAC dual, 70-42, Friday night in St. Paul. Tyler Wakefield led the Gusties with three event wins, winning the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle while also teaming with sophomore Jonah Winter and fellow freshmen Clement Auyeung and Matt Stewart to win the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:30.07, edging the Tommies to the wall by 0.05 seconds. Gustavus moved to 4-0 in duals this season.

Hanson Named MIAC Swimmer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus sophomore swimmer Ben Hanson (Minnetonka,Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 13. Hanson played a major part in Gustavus' 122-120 dual win over St. Olaf on Friday, November 11. He won the 500 and 1000 freestyle races and swam a crucial leg on a second-place 400-freestyle relay team that secured the victory in the dual.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Saint Mary’s; Wins at St. Kate’s

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team wrapped up a successful weekend Saturday with a 135-22 dual win at Saint Mary's and a first place finish in a triangular at St. Kate's. Between the two events, four Gusties posted three wins—Scott Hagemeyer and Peter Stauduhar at Saint Mary's and Brian Amundson and Ben Hanson at St. Kate's. Gustavus returns to the pool with the University of Minnesota Invite November 18-19.

Relay Win Allows Men’s Swimming and Diving to Edge St. Olaf, 122-120

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team used a 1-2 finish in the 400 freestyle relay to post a 122-120 come-from-behind win over MIAC rival St. Olaf on Friday night at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. The Gustavus 'B' relay, anchored by junior Scott Hagemeyer edged the Gustavus 'A' relay anchored by junior Brian Amundson by a margin of 0.35 seconds for the win. Both relays finished ahead of the Ole 'A' team.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Downs Minnesota State in Opener

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team picked up wins in eight events, including both relays, to win a season-opening dual against Minnesota State, Mankato, 180-120, on Saturday at the Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. Junior Scott Hagemeyer (Willmar, Minn.) picked up four first-place finishes (two individual, two relay) on the afternoon for Gustavus.

Seven Swimmers Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team had seven swimmers earn All-America honors at the 2005 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The championships took place March 17-19 at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Men’s Swimming Advances One to Saturday’s Finals

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team advanced the 400 freestyle relay team to Saturday's final. The team of Will Sutor, Evan Christianson, Brian Amundson and Scott Hagemeyer are seed fourth heading into Saturday's final.

Men’s Swimming Places Seventh at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team compiled 176 points to place seventh overall at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The seventh place finish is the highest at the national meet in school history.
