68 Gusties Recognized as 2018-19 MIAC Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) on Thursday announced its 2018-19 Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference Teams, which included 68 Gustavus student athletes. Combined with the 427 MIAC Fall-sport athletes who were honored in January, the overall total of Academic All-Conference selections for the 2018-19 academic year sets a new Conference-high of 1,172, surpassing the previous record of 1,111, set last June.

Sonnek, Malo Named March Student-Athletes of the Month

Men's swimmer Tanner Sonnek (Sr., North Mankato, Minn.) and all-around gymnast Amanda Malo (Sr., Greenwood, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College March Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Men’s And Women’s Swimming Competes At NCAA Championships

Tanner Sonnek (Sr., North Mankato, Minn.) earned his second All-America honors on the final day, this time in the 200 breaststroke by placing third. His time of 1:58.88 broke the previous school record that he held by a tenth of a second. As a team, the Gusties men also took home 17th in the nation.

Six Gusties Prepared for NCAA Swimming Championships

Six Gustavus swimmers are preparing for the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C., which takes place March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Three Divers Compete at NCAA Region 1 Championships

Three Gustavus divers competed at the NCAA Region 1 Diving Championships on Friday and Saturday. Logan Bican (Jr., Monticello, Minn.) and Jonathan Bovee (Sr., Farmington, Minn.) represented the men's team, while Sophia Steinberg (So., Faribault, Minn.) represented the women. 

Swim & Dive Qualifies Six for NCAA Championships

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced the participants for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday and that list included six competitors from Gustavus.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Captures MIAC Championship

For the first time since the 2007-08 season, the Gustavus men's swim and dive team are MIAC Champions. The men totaled 938.5 points in the four days, while second place St. Thomas finished with 774.5.
