Baseball Defeats Elmhurst 12-8

The Gustavus baseball team got back on the winning track with a 12-8 win over Elmurst College in a nine-inning game in Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon. Adam Bren was the winning pitcher, going six innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits. Chad Eul had a big day at the plate, going 3-for4 with one RBI and a double.

Alan Woitas Named MIAC Baseball Player Of The Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior shortstop/pitcher Alan Woitas (Sleepy Eye, Minn.) has been named MIAC Baseball Player of the Week for his efforts last week as the Gusties went 4-2 in non-conference play against opponents Loras College (L 12-4, L 4-3), Thomas College (W 12-1, W 4-1), and Marian University (W 9-7, W 9-2). Woitas hit .455 (10-22), tallying six RBIs, eight runs, two doubles, and a home run.

Baseball falls to Williams 8-7

The Gustavus baseball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end with an 8-7 loss to Williams College in a nine-inning game in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday afternoon. The Gusties scored one run in the top of the ninth inning to take a 7-4 lead, but Williams rallied to score four times in the bottom of the ninth to claim the come-from-behind win. Gustavus is now 5-4 overall on the season.

Baseball Sweeps Marian College 9-7 and 9-2

The Gustavus baseball team improved to 5-3 overall on the season by sweeping Marian College by the scores of 9-6 and 8-2 on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix, Arizona. The Gusties will play Elmhurst College of Illinois on Monday at 3:30 pm (CDT).

Baseball Sweeps Thomas College To Begin Spring Break Play In Arizona

The Gustavus baseball team defeated Thomas College 12-1 and 4-1 in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday afternoon. Alan Woitas was the winning pitcher in game one and Tim Miller was the winning pitcher in game two. Willie Hanson went 3-for-4 with a four RBI to lead the Gusties in their 12-1 win in game one.

Baseball Drops Doubleheader To Loras 12-4 And 4-3

The Gustavus baseball team stumbled in the Metrodome on Monday afternoon by dropping both games of the doubleheader to Loras College. The Gusties fell 12-4 in game one, and 4-3 in extra innings in game two. Alan Woitas had a good day at the plate, going 3-7 with three RBI’s, a double, and a home run.

Baseball Opens Season With Split Against UW-Oshkosh

The 2010 Gustavus baseball team opened the season in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome with a series split with UW-Oshkosh on Sunday evening. The Gusties dropped game one to the Titans 10-9 in extra innings, but came back to win the second game of the doubleheader 2-1. Gustavus is now 1-1 on the season, while UW-Oshkosh moves to 3-3.

The Gustavus Adolphus baseball team will open the 2010 season on Sunday, March 14, against UW-Oshkosh, in a double-header beginning at 6:00pm in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn.

Chaska Cubs Will Host MIAC Night On Saturday, July 11

The Chaska Cubs will host their annual Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Night on Saturday, July 11. The Cubs will play the Joe & Stans team from St. Paul at the Chaska Athletic Park at 7 pm. Anyone wearing a shirt or hat from a MIAC institution will get into the game free.

Baseball Player Mike DesLauriers Named Second Team Academic All-District V By CoSIDA

Gustavus Adolphus senior baseball player Mike DesLauriers (Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). DesLauriers, a shortstop, carries a 3.64 grade point average with a major in public accounting. A total of four MIAC players were recognized on either the first or second team.
