Gustavus Set to Induct Nine New Members into Athletics Hall of Fame

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2022 inductees include Brian Amundson ’07 (swimming & diving), Tim Brown ’04 (basketball), Scott Hagemeyer ’07 (swimming & diving), Hailey Harren ’07 (cross country/track & field), Joe Hartwell ’05 (soccer), Lauren Hom ’07 (tennis), Tony Konicek ’07 (baseball), Andrea Peterson ’07 (hockey), and Nicole LaVoi ’91 (benefactor).

197 Gusties Named MIAC Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its 2021-22 Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference honorees on Monday, which included 197 Gustavus student-athletes. 

Hanson Garners ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com First Team All-America Honors

Gustavus first baseman Jack Hanson (Sr., Minnetonka) was named First Team All-America by D3baseball.com, which was announced Wednesday morning. Hanson earns the program's fifth All-America honor and second consecutive after teammate Bryce Novak (Jr., Cleveland) was named Third Team All-America last season. Hanson is the first Gustie to receive First Team All-America honors since Tony Konicek repeated as a First Team selection in 2006 and 2007. 

Hanson Named ABCA and D3baseball.com Region 9 Player of the Year, Mocchi and Novak Earn All-Region

The 2022 ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com regional awards were released Tuesday and three Gustavus baseball players received recognition. Jack Hanson (Sr., Minnetonka) highlighted the honors by being named ABCA/Rawlings Region 9 Position Player of the Year and the D3baseball.com Region 9 Player of the Year. Ethan Mocchi (Sr., Champlin) was named Second Team All-Region by both ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, while Bryce Novak (Jr., Cleveland) was named Second Team by D3baseball.com and Third Team by ABCA/Rawlings. 

Johnson Signs Professional Baseball Contract with Sioux Falls

Recent Gustavus graduate Christian Johnson (Buffalo) signed a rookie contract with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball on Friday.

Hanson Named MIAC Baseball Player of the Year, Five Others Join on All-MIAC Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) released its baseball postseason awards on Wednesday and five Gustavus student-athletes were named All-Conference, highlighted by Jack Hanson (Sr., Minnetonka) being named the 2022 Max Molock Player of the Year.

Baseball Falls to Bethel in MIAC Playoff Championship

After getting off to a quick start with three runs in the first inning, the Gustavus baseball team couldn't muster any more offense in a 9-3 loss to Bethel in the MIAC playoff championship on Saturday at CHS Field. The Gusties finish the season 28-14 overall, marking the most wins since the 2006 season.
