Athletics Department Announces 2018 Annual Golf Tournament Dates

The Gustavus Athletics Department has announced the dates for its 2018 annual golf tournaments, which serve as social gatherings and fund raisers for a number of different teams. Select teams organize their own golf tournaments.

Sam Archer Receives ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Teams were released Tuesday and Gustavus junior Sam Archer (Zimmerman, Minn.) has been named to the All-Midwest Region Third Team. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America Committee.

Five Gusties Named To MIAC Baseball All-Conference Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2018 All-Conference Baseball Team on Tuesday and five Gusties were honored with postseason accolades. Sam Archer (Jr., Zimmerman, Minn.), Carter Clemensen (Fy., Cologne, Minn.), Nolan Lepel (Sr., Plato, Minn.), Casey Lewandoski (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska), and Ryan Moriarty (Jr., Le Sueur, Minn.) each represented the Black and Gold.

St. Thomas Walk-Off Homer Ends Baseball’s Season In MIAC Playoffs

The Gustavus baseball team surrendered a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to fall 6-5 against the University of St. Thomas in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff matchup on Saturday, ending the Gusties’ season.

The No. 6 seed Gustavus baseball team was unable to come back from a six-run deficit versus the No. 1 seed Saint John's University Friday afternoon at CHS Field in the second round of the MIAC Playoffs, falling 6-3.

Baseball Clinches First MIAC Playoff Berth Since 2008, Splits At St. Thomas

The drought is over. For the first time since 2008, the Gustavus baseball team is back in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs after salvaging a series split at St. Thomas on Monday. The Gusties dropped game one in a slugfest, 15-8, but a complete game pitching performance by Sam Archer (Jr., Zimmerman, Minn.) in game two resulted in a 6-1 playoff-clinching victory.

Lepel Named MIAC Baseball Athlete Of The Week

Nolan Lepel (Sr., Plato, Minn.) played a key role in Gustavus claiming three consecutive sweeps to keep the Gusties in the playoff hunt. For his performances, Lepel has been named MIAC Baseball Athlete of the Week.

Baseball Claims Third Consecutive MIAC Sweep, Tops Augsburg 4-1, 5-2

The Gustavus baseball team claimed its third consecutive MIAC sweep Sunday at Parade Stadium, defeating Augsburg 4-1 and 5-2. The Gusties (18-15, 10-8 MIAC) are in control of their playoff hopes as they need only one win or a loss by Concordia to clinch the sixth and final spot in the league postseason tournament – something they haven’t done since 2008.
