Women’s Tennis Posts 3-1 Overall Record On Saturday Against Nebraska-Omaha And Missouri Valley

The Gustavus women's tennis team posted a 1-1 record against the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a 2-0 record against Missouri Valley College on Saturday in the Swanson Tennis Center on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. The Gusties lost 6-3 to Nebraska-Omaha at 8:30 am, and then defeated the Mavericks 6-3 later that day at 1:00 pm. Against Missouri Valley, Gustavus won 8-1 at both 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. Sam Frank and Sierra Krebsbach went 2-0 in doubles on the day, as did Marianne Barau and Megan Gaard.

Van Sickle Scores 25 Points As Men’s Basketball Defeats Bethel 86-52

The Gustavus men’s basketball team scored a season-high 86 points to defeat Bethel 86-52 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties were led by Jesse Van Sickle who scored a season-high 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting. With the victory, Gustavus moves back into sole possession of second place in the MIAC standings with just two regular season games left to play. The Gusties improve to 14-9 overall and 12-6 in the MIAC, as Bethel drops to 11-12 overall and 7-11 in the MIAC.

Gymnastics Defeats Hamline 172.850-170.325 For First Victory Of Season

The Gustavus gymnastics team got it's first win of the season with a 172.850-170.325 victory over Hamline on Friday night in St. Paul. First year gymnast Sam Opsahl registered the only Gustavus event win of the night with a first place finish on the vault with a mark of 9.225. Danielle Thibodeau and Kelly Mathewson finished second and third in the all-around with scores of 35.625 and 35.600, respectively. Hamline's Molly Weber finished first in the all-around with a score of 36.450.

Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season With 6-1 Loss To Northern Iowa

The Gustavus women's tennis team opened the Spring season with a 6-1 loss to Northern Iowa on Friday afternoon in Waterloo, Iowa. Gustavus is now 0-1 on the season, as Northern Iowa improves to 1-1.

Bri Radtke And Molly Geske Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Team

Gustavus Adolphus senior Bri Radtke and sophomore Molly Geske are two of three women's basketball student-athletes from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) named to the 2009-10 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Men’s Basketball Suffers Heartbreaking Overtime Loss To St. Olaf 77-69

The Gustavus men’s basketball team let a 14-point second half lead slip away in a heartbreaking 77-69 overtime loss to St. Olaf on Wednesday night in Northfield, Minn. St. Olaf’s Bobby Fong scored a game-high 34 points (12-22), while bringing down 11 rebounds in the game. Gustavus was led by Ryan McPartland with 18 points (6-8).

Five Gustavus Adolphus seniors have been profiled by Rich Mies as part of the MIAC Profiles of Excellence series. Football/hockey player Joe Welch (Hastings, Minn./Hastings), football/hockey player T.J. Ridley (Edina, Minn./Edina, hockey player Melissa Mackley (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville), and basketball player Bri Radtke (Winsted, Minn./Lester Prairie) have all been featured.

Josh Swartout Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Co-Athlete Of The Week

Gustavus junior goaltender Josh Swartout (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) has been named MIAC Co-Athlete of the Week for his efforts against Concordia this past weekend. He registered 45 saves and allowed one goal in two games to help the Gusties claim a sweep of Concordia by the scores of 5-1 and 2-0 last weekend. Swartout made 26 saves and allowed one goal in Friday night's 5-1 win in St. Peter and then on Saturday, Swartout made 19 saves and recorded his second shutout of the season as Gustavus claimed a 2-0 victory.

Women’s Tennis Team Returns Home From Pre-Season Training Trip In Puerto Rico

The Gustavus Adolphus women's tennis team returned home to the blizzards of Minnesota after spending touring week training in Puerto Rico. The team trained and competed at the Palmas del Mar Tennis Club located in Humacao, Puerto Rico over the week.
