Women’s Tennis Edged By DePauw 5-4, Finishes 6th At ITA Indoor Championship

The Gustavus women's tennis team was edged 5-4 by DePauw University in the 5th place match at the ITA Indoor Tennis Championship being held in Greencastle, Ind. The Gusties were victorious in four of the six singles matches, yet were swept by the Tigers in doubles. The Gusties finish the ITA Indoor Championship in sixth place. The Gustavus women's tennis team will be back in action next Saturday, March 6.

Strong Overtime Propels Carleton Past Men’s Basketball 78-71 In MIAC Playoff Championship

The Gustavus men’s basketball team saw it’s season come to an end on Saturday night with a 78-71 overtime loss to Carleton in the MIAC Playoff Championship game in front of a some 2,800 fans in Lund Center Forum on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. Carleton proved to be too strong in the overtime session, scoring the first six points and shooting 5-for-6 from the field.

Women’s Tennis Defeats Carnegie Mellon 6-3 In Consolation Semis Of ITA Indoor Championship

The Gustavus women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over Carnegie Mellon in the consolation semifinals of the the ITA Indoor Championship being held in Greencastle, Ind. The Gusties got wins from Marianne Barau, Megan Gaard, Alex Erickson, and Ali O'Neal in singles, while the doubles pairs of Gaard and Barau and O'Neal and Katie Allen were both victorious.

Men’s Indoor Track & Field Competes In Macalester Pre-MIAC Meet

The Gustavus men’s track and field team compiled three individual event wins at the Pre-MIAC Meet held in the Macalester College Fieldhouse on Friday night in St. Paul. Event wins came from Matt Dvorak, Max Hanson, and John Kennedy. Dvorak won the 55-meter dash (6.57), Hanson won the 600-yard run (1:12.35), and Kennedy won the one-mile run (4:25.36). No team scores were kept at the meet.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competes In Macalester Pre-MIAC Meet

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team compiled five individual event wins at the Pre-MIAC Meet held in the Macalester College Fieldhouse on Friday night in St. Paul. Individual event wins came from Abby Karl, Megan Lundgren, Janey Helland, Sam Broderius, and Diana Scott. Karl won the 400 meter dash (59.33), Lundgren won the 800 meter run (2:23.21), Helland won the long jump (18’ 1.75”), Broderius won the shot put (42’ 0.75”), and Scott won the weight throw (48’ 11.75). No team scores were kept at the meet.

Men’s Basketball Set To Take On Carleton In MIAC Playoff Championship

The Gustavus men’s basketball team will host Carleton College in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Saturday night at 7:30 pm on Gus Young Court. The Gusties enter the game with a 15-10 overall record, as Carleton enters with a 17-9 overall record. The winner of the game will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Women’s Tennis Falls To Emory 6-3 In Opening Round Of ITA Indoor Championship

The Gustavus women's tennis team fell 6-3 to Emory University in the opening round of the ITA Indoor Championship being held in Greencastle, Indiana. Sierra Kebsbach and Marianne Barau registered wins in singles, as Ali O'Neal and Katie Allen defeated Emory's Sara Vrabec and Lindsay Reidenbach in doubles.

Late Game Heroics Gives Men’s Basketball 59-57 Win Over Augsburg In MIAC Playoff Semifinal

The Gustavus men's basketball team got a down-to-the-wire 59-57 win over Augsburg on Thursday night in the MIAC Playoff Semifinals. Phil Wirtjes stole an Augsburg pass with 0:10 seconds on the clock and went coast-to-coast for a layup to give Gustavus the win and berth into the MIAC Playoff Championship game.

Jon Carlson Named MIAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach Of The Year

Gustavus Adolphus women's swimming and diving coach Jon Carlson has been named MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year. Carlson guided the Gusties to their third MIAC Championship in four years on Saturday, as the 2010 MIAC Champion Gusties compiled 744 points to edge out defending champion Carleton.

Women’s Swimming & Diving MIAC Championships Wrap-Up

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team claimed it’s third MIAC Title in four years by winning the 2010 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday. The Gusties scored a total of 744 points, 155.5 points ahead of second place Carleton (588.5). St. Thomas rounded out the top three in third place with 497 points. The Gustie women have won the MIAC Championship seven times since the 2000-01 season.
