The Gustavus football team will hold its final spring practice on Thursday, May 13, on Hollingsworth Field before departing campus for the summer. Coach Peter Haugen, in his second season with the Gusties, feels that the hard work demonstrated by both the players and coaches both in the upcoming months, and through spring ball, has built a solid foundation for which the team can build on for the 2010 season.

Women’s Tennis Set To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

The Gustavus women’s tennis team has been selected to host one of eight NCAA Regional Tournaments this Thursday through Saturday, May 13-15, at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex in St. Peter, Minn. Gustavus will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time, as well as makings its 22nd consecutive appearance.

Janey Helland Named MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus junior Janey Helland (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) has been named the MIAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week. Helland started the weekend by winning the MIAC Heptathlon with a total of 4508 points, provisionally qualifying her for the NCAA Championships. Helland capped off the weekend by winning the long jump (5.36 meters) at the Meet of the UnSaintly on Saturday in St. Paul.

Gustavus Adolphus senior Max Hanson (Buffalo, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week for his performances at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.

Baseball Game With Bethany Lutheran Cancelled Due To Weather

The baseball doubleheader between Gustavus and Bethany Lutheran College scheduled for 5:30pm Monday night has been cancelled due to the weather. The Gustavus baseball team finishes the 2010 season with a 15-23 overall record and a 5-15 MIAC record.

Baseball Drops Two Heartbreakers To Saint John’s In MIAC Finale

The Gustavus baseball team concluded the MIAC season with two heartbreaking losses at the hands of Saint John’s on Saturday afternoon in Collegeville, Minn. The Johnnies won 7-6 in eight innings in game one, and 4-3 in nine innings in game two. Gustavus falls to 15-22 overall and 5-14 in the MIAC, while Saint John’s improves to 20-16 overall and 13-6 in the MIAC.

Women’s Tennis Wins Fourth Straight MIAC Playoff Championship

The Gustavus women’s tennis team claimed the 2010 MIAC Playoff Crown with a 5-0 win over St. Olaf in the championship match on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Gustavus has now won four consecutive MIAC Playoff Championships.
