Becker Earns MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Andrew Becker (Fy., Northfield) competed in nine events to help the Gustavus men’s swim & dive team win the two-day Grinnell Pioneer Classic over the weekend. For his performances, Becker has been named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Andrew Becker (Fy., Northfield) competed in nine events to help the Gustavus men’s swim & dive team win the two-day Grinnell Pioneer Classic over the weekend. Becker was a member of two meet-record-setting relay teams, winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.43 and the 400 freestyle relay in 3:11.02. He was also a part of the third-place 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Individually, Becker won the 50 freestyle in 21.58 and the 100 free in 47.44. He also took fourth in the 100 IM and ninth in the 100 breaststroke. For his performances, Becker has been named MIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week. All five weeks the Gusties have competed this season they have earned the conference’s weekly honor. Nolan Larson (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa) twice, Dane Hudson (Fy., Eden Prairie) once, Erik Small (Fy., Hudson, Wis.) once, and now Becker.
