SAINT PETER, Minn. – After two weeks away from competition, the Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete at Wartburg’s Dan Huston Invitational on Saturday. The men’s race begins at 11 a.m. with the women to follow at 11:45.
In their last race, the Gustie women, ranked No. 5 in the Central Region, took fourth out of 14 teams at Carleton’s Running of the Cows on Sept. 21. Tierney Winter (Sr., Waterville) paced the Gusties with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 23:18.7. Kourtney Kulseth (Jr., New Richland) took 16th in 23:59.1, Mackinzee Miest (So., St. James) finished 22nd at 24:11.3, and Lily Engebretson (So., St. Paul) placed 38th in 24:43.6.
The men, ranked No. 7 in the Central Region, also took fourth place out of 16 teams at the Running of the Cows. Tucker Wallin (Fy., Red Wing) led the Gusties, crossing the line in 26:39.6 for 13th place. Garet Grant (So., Winona), Jack DeGonda (So., Marine on St. Croix), and Ben Wicklund (So., Marine on St. Croix) finished in a pack at 29th, 30th, and 31st, respectively, with times of 26:59.9, 27:01.5, and 27:01.8.
