SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team hopes to roll its momentum into this weekend’s MIAC Championships after winning the Twin Cities Classic on Monday. The three-day conference tournament, played at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn., begins 11 a.m. Saturday.

Gustavus, ranked No. 25 in the most recent Division III poll, has claimed two second-place finishes and one victory in its last three tournaments. Defending MIAC medalist Jacob Pedersen (So., Minnetonka) enters the weekend on a hot streak after winning last week’s Twin Cities Classic. Pedersen leads the Gusties with a 72.6-stroke average this season, a full stroke lower than his average last year.

Max Ullan (Jr., Blaine) has two top-10 finishes this season and averages 72.9 strokes per round after nine rounds. Ben Hauge (Sr., Ramsey) has finished in the top-10 three times this fall and averages 74.2 strokes per round. Carter Czichotzki (Jr., Moorhead) has a pair of top-10 places this fall and averages 75.2 strokes. Khrystjan Petersen (Fy., Faribault) rounds out the Gusties’ lineup with a 75.7 average.

The Gustie lineup Nos. 1-5 in order is Ullan, Pedersen, Hauge, Petersen, and Czichotzki. The Gusties, who last won a MIAC championship in 2012, will tee off in reverse order.
