Women’s Golf Remains in Sixth After Round Two at MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women’s golf team remains in sixth place after completing the second round Sunday at the MIAC Championships. The Gusties shot a 335 Sunday and have a two-round total of 667. St. Catherine is still in first place at 628.

BECKER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team remains in sixth place after completing the second round Sunday at the MIAC Championships. The Gusties shot a 335 Sunday and have a two-round total of 667. St. Catherine is still in first place at 628.

Erin Ericson (So., Onalaska, Wis.) jumped up to a sixth place tie after posting a 78 Sunday for a total of 160 (+16). Sydney Regalado (So., Rosemount) and Emily Kratz (So., Edina) are tied for 26th after shooting 89 and 90, respectively. Laurel Ward (Fy., Bozeman, Mont.) improved on her first round total by 16 shots, tallying a 78 and is tied for 31st.

Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton leads the field of 53 golfers with a 73-73-146 and has a six-stroke lead. 

“Laurel and Erin had nice rounds for us today,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “Tomorrow we are going out in looking at every hole as a new opportunity to showcase what we can do, and we are looking forward to having a great final day of our conference championship.”

The third and final round at Pebble Creek Golf Club begins at 9 a.m. Monday.
