ELK RIVER, Minn. – The No. 25-ranked Gustavus men’s golf team Sunday took the lead at the Twin Cities Classic with a second round 291. The Gusties, with a two-round total of 585 (+9), have an eight-stroke lead over second place UW-Eau Claire entering Monday’s final round.

Pedersen pared 17 holes with one birdie, while Ullan carded five birdies and four bogies. Pedersen remains in the lead at 142 (-2), two strokes ahead of Cole Jahnke of UW-Eau Claire, and Ullan is tied for eighth at 147. Ben Hauge (Sr., Ramsey) posted an eagle on the par-four 13th hole and mixed in three birdies and six bogies for a 73 and is in 13th place. Khrystjan Petersen (Fy., Faribault) carded a 78 in round two and is tied for 17th.

“The men held tough today in difficult conditions at Elk River,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “When you miss any shots out there it takes great scrambling skills to save par, and we were able to manage that very well today. Under par out there today was a great score. We’re looking forward to playing Minnesota Valley tomorrow, it is in amazing golf course in excellent condition. You have to execute your shots in order to produce good scores, and I am looking forward to seeing our guys do that tomorrow.”

The third and final round is Monday at Minnesota Valley Country Club.
